This is a hard week for me as I’m doing my final shifts with three different families. These goodbyes are emotional for me after getting close to families over a few months, though they’re really “see you laters” as I love keeping in touch for years to come.
One of my moms wrote the sweetest card for me, and when I read the words, “You are the rock the waves crash on - so strong and steady,” I got tears in my eyes. What a compliment, and her words are a gift that I will treasure forever.
It’s such an honor to be able to support parents in those early weeks when those waves feel overwhelming, with long nights, feeding challenges, physical recovery, and much more hitting all at the same time. The opportunity to be a calming presence when things feel hard is not something I take lightly, and it’s one of the many reasons I have the best job in the world.
