UMSL Counseling Services Call or come in to start low cost, short-term, individual therapy. If you're in crisis call us or te Initial assessments are provided free of charge.

UMSL Counseling Services offers counseling, crisis intervention and consultation to support the mental health of all UMSL students. Ongoing counseling services are provided for a nominal fee. Individual counseling services are available to students currently enrolled at UMSL. Please call or stop by our office to schedule an initial assessment. We provide crisis intervention services for UMSL students who need help quickly. Please call or walk into our office during normal business hours. When you arrive, we will ask you to complete initial assessment paperwork. You will then meet with a clinician who can provide assessment and quickly connect you to appropriate services. Concerned about an UMSL student? Please call or stop by our office and ask to speak to the walk-in clinician. We will gladly offer consultation to help you effectively support the student and provide information about resources and services that are available.

Want to meet new friends & take an intentional step to prioritize your mental health this semester? Join one of our 4 counseling groups! Groups meet weekly & sessions are always free. Here’s more info about the 4 groups that we’re launching this February:

🌍 International Student Support Group: a space for community, wellness, skill building & strategies to help you cope with the challenges of studying abroad in another country.
🏳️‍⚧️ Trans & GNC Support Group: a support group that centers the experience of TGNC students to build community, share resources & boost wellness.
🫱🏽‍🫲🏾Reflect & Connect: a therapy group that aims to foster personal growth, self awareness & healthy relationships.
🌳 It Didn’t Start with You: a support group for adult children of dysfunctional families.

We're excited to be hosting a few events this month to get Spring Semester started off right!

❤️ This we're hosting two open houses for international students to stop to meet our team, enjoy some sweet treats & learn more about the services we offer (including this semester's international student support group- more on that soon!). Join us on Wednesday 1/21 from 10-11 or Thursday 1/22 from 2-3.
💛Next week we'll be hosting a Vision Board Workshop called Cut, Craft Create in the Fireside Lounge! Poster boards, magazines, and other crafting supplies will be provided but you can also bring your own. Stop by on 1/28 from 1:00 - 3:00 to set some big goals for this semester.

We'll be joining UMSL's Pride Alliance this Thursday at the Transgender Day of Remembrance Tabling & Vigil. 🏳️‍⚧️

Join us The Nosh from 11-1 where we'll be decorating memorial candles, writing notes of support to transgender youth, remembering those we've lost & giving out free pastries and hot chocolate. Then from 5-7 we'll be at the Honors College for a Candlelight Vigil. Whether you're part of the trans community, love someone who is, or are an ally, we hope to see you there!
