Crystal Wisdoms | Happy Friday!

Look, today's crystal is a repeat from July, but I cannot emphasize it enough. If you are ever lucky to own a piece, you'll see what I mean. She is graceful and lovely, and I just know she is the best piece to work with during a period with five planets in retrograde.

Prairie Tanzanite [Ca2Al3 (SiO4)3 (OH)] - This has to be one of the coolest things out there, as in I just about lost my mind when I found this mineral a while back. It is purple zoisite (so similar in makeup to tanzanite, which is from Tanzania) and pink zoisite (thulite) together, and it is found in Wyoming. This was formed with regional metamorphism, meaning two different plates came together creating something new from pressure, but then add some hydrothermal activity to the surrounding rock.

Prairie tanzanite brings a graceful life, one which we are reminded to stay grounded, compassionate and wise. As you could be feeling the "funk" lately, you will need a reminder of what you are capable of since these energies are feeling a bit jarring to our systems. This stone targets your heart, third eye and crown chakras, giving us access to our higher selves again. What a beautiful thing to experience after the chaos!

So as you connect with this stone this week, feel how you come back to you, and how wise and grounded you feel as you work into stepping into your truth. Let compassion, grace and peace run through your body, not just for others but also yourself. As always with these stones, there is Zadkiel and Kwan Yin coming through with the violet flame, ready to transmute anything that no longer serves you.

Mystic Merlinite/Indigo Gabbro [SiO2 + (NaCa)(Mg,Fe,Al)(Al,Si)2O6 + (Mg2SiO4) + etc. ] - Originating from igneous rock, closer in appearance and behavior to basalt, this gets trapped right underneath the surface, crystallizing slowly enough to form those grains that are much more visible than seen in a lot of similar basaltic rock formations. As you can tell with my chemical formula today, this stone is full of minerals, and if I had put the whole possibility of chemistry out there, the first paragraph would have just been that.

Just like Mystic Merlinite, we each have different, unique pieces to ourselves - the parts of us that create our magic. This stone was picked to help with Mercury retrograde - to obtain clarity on your magic. Mystic Merlinite is here to remind you of those things that make you YOU, so when this retrograde is over eventually, we can hit the ground running without any doubts of who we are in the process. It aims for the third eye and works its way through each chakra, opening up the veils for you. With its different light and dark minerals, you can imagine this as parts of yourself; the light and shadow. But the beauty of it is we need both of these sides to help in healing and rediscovering ourselves.

So as you work with Mystic Merlinite today, let it work its way through all of your chakras. You may sense a tingling at the third eye - let it. You are, after all, ready for some clarity on what your beautiful magic is.

Crystal Wisdoms | Happy Halloween!

Red Aragonite (CaCO3 + Fe) - These geologic "flowers" form from the same stuff that forms shells of sea creatures - calcium carbonate (CaCO3). This makes them similar to calcite in chemical composition, however, they are a pseudomorph and form in these columnar formations due to high pressure being another factor in its birth, forcing the crystals to align this way. The red/orange tinge you get will come from the presence of iron (Fe) traces.

Aragonite was named after the location it was found in Spain called Molina de Aragón, and was first described by a monk named José Torrubia, who carefully drew and published his rock and mineral findings in 1754. (Source: Sociedad Española de Mineralogía).

The world is under so much pressure right now, isn't it fitting to choose something that was formed under the geological equivalent? And yet it still came out so beautiful, radiating its energy in all directions. This stone is here to help you work through old wounds and emotional energetic blockages, by holding you steady through it. The energies stabilize the root and sacral chakras, connecting you to Mother Earth's energy as the world around you goes through its ups and downs. This isn't to say it will leave you sedentary, but it will certainly get you grounded enough to think long before you speak or act, and that is a trait that is beautiful to have all the time, regardless of the surrounding emotional climate.

So let aragonite envelope you in its warm security blanket as you meditate, with its energies radiating from all directions, forming a web of light. Perhaps even go outside today and enjoy the beauty Mother Earth is reminding you of - let your feet truly connect to the giant crystal ball we live on that floats through space. Now, more than ever, we need to remember to aim for being as centered as possible.

Smoky Quartz (SiO₂₊) - When quartz gets hit with radiation from the uranium in surrounding bedrock, the color centers around aluminum inclusions will be activated and give us the well known brown hue we all love. Found in several spots around the world, the most notable to me is this is the national gem of Scotland, called Cairngorm (from the Cairngorm Mountains).

[Note from author: A lot of help for this post came from Hazel Raven's book, "Crystal Healing - The Complete Practitioners Guide". She is an amazing mentor, friend and guide for me, and I hope you learn from her hard-earned wisdom within this post, too.]

Which brings me to this - this is the warrior's stone. With everything going on, it is NO surprise to me that this raven skull made itself known. The energy of the universe right now is essentially there to help you get rid of the nonsense that no longer serves you, and raven skull loves pointing out that stuff, even if it makes you feel a bit called out. This raven skull, in particular, is used to see beyond the veil of illusion (combination of raven medicine and smoky quartz). The crystal component has a deep history with warriors. It instills protection and was carried into battle, as late as WWI. With that in mind, when this raven skull makes itself known, it usually steps forward to stop destructive power, the kind you would associate with greed and manipulation. It steps forward to PROTECT the authentic ones.

By instilling protection and wonderful insight in seeing the BS, it fills up your root chakra (and frankly, your third eye) with confidence and love. Raven is also being adamant to remind you all - the universe shows us all the time what peoples' true natures are. Don't ignore when it does this. This will help you with any cycles that no longer serve you.

Angelite (CaSO4) - Due to its origins as an evaporate from the water removal of the mineral gypsum, this stone is also known as anhydrite ("without water"). It is commonly found in evaporate deposits, and presents itself in course crystalline blocks, although rarely you will find tabular specimens.

Dear friends, this stone connects you to the Angelic realms, bringing forward a peace and tranquility you can only feel when you're with the angels. To quote a dear teacher of mine, "It is one stone that truly holds the energy of the force we know as Karuna: compassion, pity and tenderness. It also implies devoted action to alleviate suffering." (Raven, 2000) During this period on our planet where it seems people in power have forgotten about compassion before taking action, I invite you to hold this vibration of peace, tranquility, calm.

Oh, how we could change the world if all of us did this, if everyone could remember compassion, even when we are at our most bitter, even when our egos are getting to the best of us.
There is a principle in quantum mechanics that I absolutely enjoy when I manifest, and that is quantum entanglement - a particle vibrating from the sound of my voice when I speak will and can affect a molecule as far as a celestial body on the edge of space instantly. It is an illusion that what is happening in a far away place is separate from you due to this. So let us harness this wonderful *magic* that the universe has given us, and let us hold this vibration of peace and compassion, even if just for this weekend, just for this day. “You have one life to live!”
“She/he is still a little girl/boy, and it’s their first time living too”

I have heard these sayings lately, and you know what? As someone who believes in past lives and works with people on their past lives, I have to say I agree. Hear me out -

It’s your first time living under these circumstances - this day and age, this particular set of ideologies and technologies and whatever else you can think of in history. We may a lot of times still encounter the same characters we met before, but wow aren’t we so lucky to be living right this moment?

This isn’t to minimize when things go wrong, I just can’t help but look around even when things are going wrong and consider myself (and you!) so lucky to be experiencing this right at this moment in time. What can I learn from what I’ve been given?

Best of all, what can I look at in wonder? Those who know me know I love going to Disney with my family - to me and my husband, it’s like healing our little selves. We still get happy if a character acknowledges us, because after all, “it’s our first time living too”. First time in this very special moment in time.

There’s a reason I picked this picture - my love for the sciences spans the ages but I am able to be alive during a time where I can deploy this amazing contraption called a CTD, which measures conductivity, temperature and depth. And to my soul, that’s healing.

I’m so happy you’re here with me, living for the first time too in this day and age.
