Whether you are a weekend warrior who loves the feel of the cold wind in your face as much as you love the warmth of the ski lodge or you are a fierce competitor, dropping from helicopters to the top of...

Tip of the Week!

Our tip this week is for everyone getting ready to stock up on fall and holiday candles. If you don’t already, buy soy candles! Soy candles are non-toxic and they are all-natural. They give off a stronger scent and have a slower burn. Soy wax is also renewable and vegan. There are some great local companies that sell soy candles you could support!

Tip of the Week!

It is time to head back to school! We wanted to share a few tips for the beginning of the school year!

Now is a good time to get kids in to see the doctor to get their physical done for sports.
It’s also a good time for a regular check-up as well
Get the family back in a routine before the first day hits so it’s not as much of a shock.
It’s important to aim 8 for hours of sleep each night
Make sure the whole family is practicing good hygiene to eliminate the chance of illness. As clean as they try to keep schools, illness spreads like wildfire.
Buy backpacks for the kids that are the right size and have good support
Double check vaccinations are up to date and allergies are taken care of
Promote healthy habits, including exercises, diet and daily hydration
Start off the year as organized as possible. Planners and calendars help keep schedules straight
Have a great school year!

Tip of the Week!

Did you know reading books is actually good for your health? Reading not only exercises your mind but it improves your concentration and focus. It is studied that people who read on a daily basis have a wider vocabulary and more advanced writing skills. Books aren’t just a way to learn new information. They also increase creativity in the mind. We asked our staff what their favorite books to read are:

Brad - the Bible or journals for ortho, sports, and neuro
Kim - Where the Crawdads Sing

What are some of your favorite books to read?

In lieu of a Tip of the Week this week, we wanted to say farewell to our Office Manager and Director of Marketing, Jeanna. She received a job offer that was too good to pass on and today is her last day. Jeanna has some thoughts she wanted to share on her last day:

“I have loved my time at Telegraph Road Physical Therapy and I am so grateful for the opportunity to meet all the patients that I did and to work alongside Brad and Kim and support them in helping patients get their lives back. I am also sad to be stepping down from my role as an Ambassador for the Affton-Lemay Chamber of Commerce that has introduced me to some amazing individuals in the community. This job has brought me some irreplaceable experiences and unforgettable people but I am excited to be moving forward to my next challenge.” - Jeanna

You might still see Jeanna from time to time as she will come in occasionally for the next few weeks to keep things running until we fill her position.

Tip of the Week!

In case you missed our pool safety article from the Summer Newsletter, here are some of the pool tips we recommend for summer days:
Be aware of what swimsuit colors are best and worst for seeing when underwater
Wear sunblock
Abide by pool regulations
Swim in partners (Even adults)
Watch animals very closely near water (Pets can act very out of character when scared and accidentally cause harm to themselves and others around them if they fall in)
Stay hydrated
Take swimming/lifeguard lessons (Even if you don’t plan on swimming, accidents happen and you’d rather be prepared!)
Drink alcohol responsibly at the pool

We hope everyone has a fun and safe summer!

Tip of the Week!

If you have been feeling stressed, this week’s tip is for you! Here are Jeanna’s tips to help eliminate stress:

Exercise! Whether it’s a full gym session or just a slow walk in the park for 20 minutes, anything is better than nothing.

Drink and eat healthy if possible. A lot of my stress happens when I am eating a bad diet and it makes me feel physically and mentally unwell. Even just eating more fruits and vegetables can help a ton!

Meditate! As someone who has dealt with anxiety their whole life, meditation didn’t help at first and felt weird. However overtime I started to enjoy minutes of peace to just breathe and not think of anything else. It takes practice but keep trying!

Organization is my secret to keeping stress levels down. I understand that organization isn’t everyone’s forte but even getting a planner or putting events and to do lists in your phone can help you manage your busy schedule more efficiently.

Listening to music is my favorite tip of all to staying relaxed. Often at work, I listen to music at a low volume in my office. My favorite songs can keep me in a good mood and motivated to get through even my craziest days!

If you have any personal tips to managing stress, comment below to share!
