Michelle Furman (PP-OTD '25) presented at the AOTA Education Summit in Salt Lake City this month on fieldwork educator needs for supporting neurodivergent OT students. Her doctoral work, mentored by Dr. Steve Taff, provides evidence-based strategies for inclusive clinical education.

As the Clinical Education Support Specialist at WashU OT Community Practice, Michelle now implements this research in her fieldwork program leadership role.

This is post-professional doctoral education in action: experienced clinicians developing expertise to drive change in OT practice and education. We are proud to have Michelle as part of our WashU Community!

🩺✨ We were thrilled to see the Pro Bono Health Clinic featured this week in The Record! This interdisciplinary clinic offers free OT, PT, and medical intermediary services to un- and under-insured community members in the St. Louis area. With direct faculty supervision, our student-led team provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy services for patients with diabetes, hypertension, and other acute conditions, and supports them in establishing primary care.

Through this initiative, our students gain invaluable hands-on experience, learning about the clinical and nonclinical factors that impact health. We are proud of their dedication to serving the community and promoting health equity. 💙

Costumes, smiles, pup cups and a 65 degree afternoon - the 4th annual Regina Abel Memorial Dog Parade was a great success!

We celebrate this event in honor of our late faculty, Dr. Regina Abel, whose love for research, animal assisted therapy and a healthy dose of fun continues to inspire us. This year's parade started with some brief remarks on Regina's legacy and then we paraded past an audience outside TRISL and Cortex, ending back on the grass at 4444 Forest Park for pup cups and candy.

Thank you to all the students, faculty, staff, and guests who joined in the parade and helped keep Regina’s joyful spirit alive!
