To think of where you are while floating through each cloud
Makes me want to hear your laughter ever so loud.

How does this happen? Why is life so unfair?
How can we handle this $35,000 feet in the air?

The time that we spent and all the many memories we had.
Makes me full of anger thinking the world took you too soon, I’m just so damn sad.

This is my first time, a rodeo of the unknown.
Cancer is evil, shattering, hear my voice and my tone!

Nobody deserves this and certainly not you.
Your joy, your soul, your laughter to come back I’d do anything I could do.

Gods plan we can’t question, but we can certainly try
Why you, why now, right after we said goodbye.

Were you waiting or ready? I guess I’ll never know.
But if it means you’ll live without pain, go capara go.

I will love you forever with every inch of my heart.
Explaining your impact on my life I couldn’t begin to start.

Lover of life and a king of our time
This poem means nothing for what I feel, no matter the rhyme.

So rest in peace and know your love is all around
This is all I can do and all the strength I can compound.

Ilan Bitton I love you. 💔

My first EVER Jewish wedding.

This is my 5th time in Israel and I’ve missed all the weddings. Not this time. I have so many amazing memories of this celebration and just how unbelievably different this experience is from any wedding I’ve ever been to. No man in a suit. Sport shoes are the style and jeans are the “thing”. Oh and everyone just lights up at the dinner table. 🤣

At 7:30 the doors open to an outdoor reception with food, drinks, and photos. The parents of the bride and groom welcome you. The couple is together out and about. We spent an hour and a half eating and drinking until the chuppah. Then the walk of fame down the aisle and under the chuppah. The broken glass and all. Never seen it in real life. Prayers, blessings, dancing, and joy that you really can’t explain.

Then it’s 9:30 and it’s time for an entry into a grand room with lights and more food everywhere. Multiple courses. I’ve never seen this amount of food in my life. My shape wear could never. I made it through one ready to bust. Before anything else Yuli pulled me to the dance floor where I swear time stands still. I don’t know a single soul, but it’s like I’m part of a family I’ve never met. The bride and groom are beaming and the love can be expanded on by every sense.

According to Ornir this was just the start of the party as we left at almost midnight. He said we didn’t even make it to the 2nd course. Moral of the story, this was truly an unbelievably moving experience. The pride and joy in the Israeli people should never be doubted or minimized. I wish for everyone the same. An opportunity to experience all things, people, cultures, and food. It will simply change your life. I’m full of too much food, but most of all gratitude. Truly feel so lucky.

Good night.

Not related to my occupation, or any type of occupation that I know of.

One thing about me, I’m going to search high and low for truth. Higher than gold prices. I’m going to do the leg work to see things and have as many opportunities to understand the most complicated of things. As a master mind recently said, it’s not about finding consensus. You’ll fail. Even amongst those you’d imagine would understand or think the same. Life is more about exploring truth and finding a way to share that. Sometimes no matter how loudly it speaks without saying a single word. When I’m here, I’m very quiet. For it’s my job to listen in any language and truly embrace the answers to complex misunderstandings with and without words. Today it was mostly Arabic. Greeted with a smile and a habibi.

You cannot have any understanding of the world or Middle East unless you travel the miles to submerge yourself in culture. A shared country where Muslims, Christian’s, and Jews are all given rights. Places to thrive. Villages to build up. Money to make. Families to raise. Equal rights when using their privilege for good. Every single person. Under a government body. Following the law of the land. However, some get to refuse their service to protect this country, but occupy the land. Why doesn’t anyone want to explore this?

We spent the entire day in an Arab village filled with people and promise. A view of coexistence and a world where all people mix, mingle, and masquerade. Without a need to conceal their true self but cover if you must. Why is this a conversation nobody wants to have? Why is this not the real ISRAEL? You can see the palaces built, the luxury cars, the thriving economy from Arabs. This is the Israel so many won’t recognize. A Jewish homeland home to Arabs, Druze, Israelis, and so on. It’s not my job to school the world, but it sure is my hill to die on explaining the truth of what I see. What is real. What is true.

Anyone who believes the Middle East is to be understood from behind a screen better book a ticket to see the world. Especially the only democracy that exists in one of the smallest countries in the Middle East.

Good night.

4 generations of Bitton’s.

From 93 to age 9. A story for another day, but a happy holiday to say the least. Spending Rosh Hashanah in Israel just hits different. Especially when you get to spend it with your grandparents and great grandparents.
