Mental Health First Aid Missouri

Mental Health First Aid Missouri Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial help given to someone developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Missouri conducts courses designed to teach the general public how to recognize symptoms of mental health problems, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person towards appropriate treatments and other supportive help. There are curriculums for adults and youth along with specializations in public safety, veterans, and faith-based groups. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Missouri is housed within the Missouri Institute of Mental Health and is one of three national partners in the US that teach and distribute the curriculum. As Missouri students head back to school, let’s take a moment to recognize and uplift our educators.

To support their vital work, Missouri public schools can now host free Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) courses — empowering staff with tools to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges in youth. This is a powerful opportunity to build safer, more supportive school environments.

If you're an educator or administrator interested in bringing YMHFA to your school, feel free to reach out!
