Mental Health First Aid Missouri

Mental Health First Aid Missouri Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial help given to someone developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Missouri conducts courses designed to teach the general public how to recognize symptoms of mental health problems, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person towards appropriate treatments and other supportive help. There are curriculums for adults and youth along with specializations in public safety, veterans, and faith-based groups. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Missouri is housed within the Missouri Institute of Mental Health and is one of three national partners in the US that teach and distribute the curriculum. As the seasons change, it’s important to check on the young people in our lives. Research shows that su***de rates for adolescents often increase during the spring months, but there is hope. Support, connection and early intervention save lives, and spring is a great time to sign up for a training.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and Question Persuade Refer (QPR) trainings help educators and community members learn to recognize warning signs, respond to youth in crisis, and connect young people with support.
Together, we can help ensure every young person feels seen, supported, and not alone. Email mhat@umsl.edu to learn more or sign up for an upcoming training.
