Jesus. I am praying for all who were directly and indirectly impacted by this traumatic event.
Now is the time to rally in a show of support, compassion, and love.

During these difficult times:

Make space for yourself and each other.
Be patient with yourself and each other.
And know that it’s ok if you don’t have the language to express what you are experiencing. Trust the process of feeling your way through.
And keep in mind, while you may not presently have the language, it is still very important to recognize that you are having an experience, and this experience requires attention and support. Don’t try to ignore it. Give yourself permission to go through the process. FEEL your way through.
Try not to force conversations or understanding, but rather hold space and allow feelings to flow.
Create safe outlets, create safe spaces, and create opportunities for safe disconnection (ie. disconnect from news outlets and social media).

Trauma presents in many different ways. So it will be important to pay attention to changes in behavior, dysregulated moods, emotional dysregulation, and intrusive thoughts in yourself, your loved ones, and others.

Give yourself and others grace, feel your way through and PLEASE seek support.

Knowing better doesn’t mean you’re going to “do better.”
It’s the actions that support the “doing better” that matter.
Identify and define what “doing better” can look like, and then become INTENTIONAL about applying the behaviors necessary to support “doing better.”
This is more than a thought, it’s an action space.

Choose to love one another SAFELY.

Loving safely is creating safe spaces, it’s respect, developing trust, extending patience, safe protection (emotionally, mentally, physically), encouraging spaces for one another to show up authentically and be accepted, allowing for safe affection.
Loving safely is choosing to not hurt, harm, disrespect, dismiss, or disregard.

Pay attention to how you define love.
How you display love and how you receive love.
Pay attention to if your display of love causes pain or if your experience of receiving love is painful.
And choose to love safely and receive love that is safe.

Love is whole, warm, and welcoming.
Love doesn’t hurt you- people do.

Self- scans are necessary. They provide an opportunity to identify areas that require attention. Areas that require healing, growth, guidance, and support.
What we may also find with a self-scan is the source of dysfunction is within.
So, when looking within:
Check your thoughts. What are you fixated on? Do you find yourself going to the worst in situations rather than identifying positive possibilities?
Check your self talk- What is playing on a loop in your mind. What are you feeding yourself? Is it positive or negative self- talk?
Check your habits- What has your attention? Are your habits lending to your growth and success or lending to stagnant spaces?
Check your responses- Do you think before you speak or lead with emotion? Do you practice silence or feel the need to be heard?

Be honest with your answers, and make the proper adjustments as needed.
RECOGNIZE, RELATE, and RELEASE.

Many times one just needs to know that "it is OK, to not be OK" sometimes. Life happens as life is happening to all of us, and it’s not uncommon to find oneself stuck. In these moments I believe in the importance of validating feelings and experiences, and allowing one a safe space to express.

Mental health maintenance, awareness and wellness is a vital part of life and how one moves and functions in the world. Maintaining your mental health contributes to your overall wholeness and wellbeing. At Restore Counseling and Wellness Services, LLC I provide a non- judgmental setting where one can express themselves and get the support, guidance, direction and proper resources they need to be the best person they can be. I work patiently with clients meeting them where they are on their journey.

I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, and life skills. My treatment modalities vary case by case and include but are not limited to: Trauma Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Empowerment Theory, as well as Person- Centered and Existential Therapies.

I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups, ranging from adolescence through adulthood; And I gladly welcome individuals of all abilities.
