Every Tuesday for more than a decade, Jackie has been a constant presence in the Surgical Evaluation Center at MoBap. She volunteers her time, supports the team behind the scenes, and often brings along a sweet treat. 🍪

What started as a way to give back has become a meaningful part of her life and a bright spot in the week for those who work with her.

Thank you, Jackie, for the dedication and compassion you bring to MoBap each week—and happy 80th birthday! 💚

Katie knows firsthand just how powerful donor breast milk can be—first as a NICU mom, then as a donor herself.

After giving birth to premature twin boys at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Katie relied on donor milk to help nourish her sons until her own supply came in. Now, she’s paid it forward in a big way by dropping off nearly 1,500 ounces of frozen breast milk at MoBap’s milk donation site. That’s enough to help feed dozens of babies! 🍼

For fragile newborns, breast milk can be lifesaving, and moms like Katie are helping more families have access to it when they need it most.

Please join us in congratulating Sara, one of Missouri Baptist Medical Center's incredible nurses, for receiving a recent .

Sara was nominated for going above and beyond to support a patient’s family during a very stressful moment. While the patient was in surgery, Sara noticed the family needed help and calmly stepped in with compassion. She soothed a crying infant, created a peaceful space for the family, and made sure everyone felt cared for.

Her kindness didn’t go unnoticed. As the patient later shared, “Sara treated my baby as if they were her own. She truly saved the day.”

Thank you. Sara, for the heart you bring to your care every single day! 💜

👋 Meet Dr. Kelsey Moon, medical director of the Missouri Baptist Internal Medicine Residency Clinic.

From a young age, Dr. Moon felt called to medicine, drawn by the impact she saw compassionate physicians make in people’s lives. Today, she brings that same care and passion to her role as both a clinician and mentor.

As part of MoBap’s new residency program, Dr. Moon is helping shape the next generation of internal medicine physicians. “It is rewarding to know that helping others succeed in their career and providing them with tools for continued success will help not only those individuals, but also the thousands of patients they will go on to serve.”

“The residency clinic is an exciting and important new resource for the community that will provide quick access to excellent medical care for those needing a primary care physician,” Dr. Moon said.

When Dr. Moon is not mentoring residents or caring for patients, you’ll find her with her family playing board games like Wingspan and Azul, reading, biking, or hiking.

Congratulations to Rich Liekweg, BJC Health System CEO, who announced his plans to retire on October 1, 2025, concluding an extraordinary career spanning almost 40 years in health care, the last 16 of which were devoted to BJC.

“It has been an honor to serve and lead our team members these past 16 years as they deliver exceptional care to our patients and communities,” said Rich. “Together, we successfully navigated through unprecedented times in the industry, never losing sight of our singular purpose to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. I am deeply proud of our caregivers, the culture we have created, and the values we share that place the patient at the center of all we do.”

BJC is pleased to announce that Nick Barto, current BJC Health System President, will succeed Rich as President and CEO of BJC Health System.

“I am honored to be selected to succeed Rich Liekweg as BJC Health System’s President and CEO,” said Nick. “I look forward to working with our 47,000 team members to build on Rich’s vision that grew BJC into a super-regional health care leader, to continue to provide extraordinary care to the communities we serve, and to position BJC as a mission-oriented academic health care leader for all future generations.”

Congratulations to Lauren, a recent DAISY Award winner at Missouri Baptist Medical Center! Her nominator shared the following about Lauren:

"A teenager came into the Pediatric Emergency Department while their sibling was being treated. With their parents out of town, they had to wait alone in the lobby during what was an incredibly overwhelming and emotional time.

Once the room was ready and their sibling was able to receive visitors, Lauren went to the waiting area and brought them to the room so they could be together. Lauren stayed with the siblings for over an hour—offering quiet comfort, support, and simply making sure they didn’t feel alone.

Lauren didn’t do it for recognition—she saw someone who needed kindness and showed up in a way that truly mattered. Her compassion and ability to be present in the hardest moments are just part of what make her an extraordinary nurse."

If you know a nurse who has gone above and beyond, nominate them for a DAISY Award: https://heyor.ca/wJMZjI
