It is with great sadness that the Northeast Ambulance & Fire Protection District announces the passing of Captain Greg Wood.

Captain Wood faithfully served our community for over 30 years, rising through the ranks to become Captain. He was a highly skilled Fire Captain and Paramedic, sharing his knowledge and expertise with countless colleagues over the years. His dedication to the residents of this district, and his mentorship to fellow firefighters and paramedics, will leave a lasting legacy.

We extend our deepest condolences to Captain Wood’s family, friends, and all who had the opportunity of serving alongside him. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral arrangements will be announced soon.

Today we are honoring Ferguson Police Officer Travis "TJ" Brown was catastrophically injured in the line of duty on August 10, 2024; he was knocked to the ground during a protest, resulting in a traumatic brain injury.

We will never forget Officer Brown's sacrifice.

Today, we proudly celebrate the incredible career of Ron Fritz, who officially retires from the Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District after more than 35 years of dedicated service.

Throughout his career, Ron has served our community with honor and dignity. His impact spans both fire and EMS, earning him numerous life-saving awards and the respect of all who’ve had the privilege to work with him.

His legacy will live on and he will missed.

RIP

We’re saddened to learn of the death of Driver Gary White, who died in an off-duty traffic accident. Brother White had been with the Memphis Fire Department since March 1998. May his family both at home and the fire station be comforted during this difficult time.
