November flu vaccines will be available but will only be offered M-F before 4pm.

Thank you to our amazing staff for staying late and working extra so we could accommodate so many of our patients after school hours and on weekends.

Have you missed our posts? We apologize for the lack of presence on social media but we have been extremely busy with back to school and sports physicals. There are not a lot of slots left before classes begin so if you need a physical before tryouts or the first day of school, do not wait to call.

We are going to try and share last minute openings here as we get cancellations to help patients that need these appointments.

For tomorrow, Dr. Anderson had some cancellations after 2pm. Dr. Tackes has 2 openings after 3pm. You can call to schedule at 314/859-4000 or go onto MyChart.

Baby carriers, backpacks, front packs, and slings that allow parents to "baby wear" have become quite popular. They can be great for bonding and helping a parent to multitask. They can however, like any other piece of baby equipment, cause safety concerns if not utilized properly.

We always recommend reading the package insert to know the proper way to use a product and for what age or weight a product is meant to be used for.
The article below also provides some excellent guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics for purchasing and using baby carriers.

It is 8:00am on the first day of summer break and your child is already bored. How can that be? We've waited all school year for this day, right? They are already begging for their video games and tablets.

Limiting screen time is hard enough during a regular routine but how can we help kids scale back during school breaks? We are here to help!

The AAP shared with us a great website with Melissa and Doug for 52 Screen-Free Play Activities for Family Fun. Some of our favorites include creating your own restaurant or setting up a pretend store, have a family dance party, or Emma's favorite, performing a concert for the family.

We also have linked an article from the American Academy of Pediatrics that provides their media use guidelines for families.

Memorial Day is considered the first day of summer for most of us in St. Louis. It is the kick off for summer BBQs and when swimming pools open for the summer.
Swimming is a fun summertime activity and can be great exercise. However swimming pool drownings are the No. 1 cause of death for children ages 1-4 (after birth defects.)

We have provided 2 articles from the American Academy of Pediatrics providing excellent information regarding drowning prevention and their recommendations for life jackets and preservers.

Every year, over 100,000 people in the US are treated in emergency rooms from trampoline related injuries.

Toddlers and preschoolers face the greatest risks for trampoline injuries. Because of this, children under age 6 should never jump. The AAP actually recommends that kids of all ages should avoid trampolines.

However, if you do decide to allow your older children to jump, we recommend that you first read this article from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
