More importantly, it helps us see a path forward to more equitable outcomes for all mothers and babies, regardless of race. In January, Missouri Senator Barbara Washington introduced Missouri Senate Bill 343. The bill would require public schools and charter schools in Missouri to provide reasonable accommodations for lactating students, including, but not limited to, a reasonable amount of time and access to private spaces for breastfeeding or expressing breast milk, as well as access to facilities for cleaning and securely storing breast pump equipment. Nancy Lewis is an esteemed member of the St. Louis Breastfeeding Coalition. She is a Certified Full Spectrum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor and Midwife Assistant. Additionally, as an experienced Professional Development Facilitator, she provides training for Lactation, PAIL Advocates, Childbirth Education and Safe Sleep practices.
