"Many of us spend chapters of our lives learning to ignore the cues that our bodies are sending us. The human body is incredibly wise! Don't mute the helpful voice- listen to it and tune in!"

The overall goal of the fitness program at McCallum Place is to offer our clients the opportunity to gain awareness and challenge the mindset associated with unbalanced exercise behaviors by participating and processing in structured and balanced fitness sessions with our eating disorder informed and sensitive NSCA-certified strength and conditioning specialist. We assist individuals in our care as they redefine their relationship with fitness through supported practice and education about healthy and balanced exercise.

TUNE IN each Tuesday for more tips from the McCallum Place Gym and our Strength and Conditioning Coach, Amanda Tierney, MS, CSCS.

"Strength is discovered in the little victories. As we embrace and navigate resistance throughout the treatment process, we continue to build upon our power and resilience. Not all strength is built in the gym".

Waiting is NOT easy!

Join The Victory Program's Amanda Tierney, MS, CSCS, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Ashley Brauer, PhD, Clinical Sport Psychological Resident for a reading and group discussion of the children's book Waiting is Not Easy, by Mo Willems. Learn how The Victory treatment team utilizes this creative tool to support athletes and how you can adapt this storybook lesson to guide your clients through times of waiting.
“We know that it can be frightening for an athlete to take time off from their sport, to seek treatment. Rest and reduced training hours can be startling to athletes that are accustomed to demanding and time-consuming training plans…and it can feel like an eternity as they wait to get the green light to retrain, compete, and thrive back in their sport environments. Not only this, but also the unknown of when athletic endeavors will resume in the current global climate may be anxiety provoking.”
