This summer, Cortex has led efforts to support our neighbors tragically affected by the tornado in May with monthly clean-ups in North City and a month-long donation drive. As relief has transitioned into recovery, Cortex continues to support and function as a space for innovation, collaboration and conversation.

Tomorrow, we pivot our focus to host an important discussion via lunch-and-learn -- on how local disaster recovery has been impacted by geography, race and history in the St. Louis region. Please join us for this session, led by Annissa McCaskill, executive director for Forward Through Ferguson.

Pro tip: stop by in Cortex Commons to grab lunch before heading over to 20 South Sarah! Spud Shack Food Truck will be the featured truck for the day.

We’re continuing cleanup efforts in North City tomorrow (10AM–1PM), but please know there’s an excessive heat advisory in effect. Your safety comes first — if you’re not up for outdoor work, we’ll have indoor tasks available at 4601 Pope Ave.

🚗 Park along Carrie Ave (No carpool from Cortex)
🕘 Please arrive by 9:45AM

We’ll be:
🌲 Cutting up & hauling downed trees
🧹 Cleaning up trash in the alley
🛠️ Indoor support work if needed

What to bring: water, sunscreen, PPE, long sleeves/pants, gloves, closed-toe shoes — and if possible, chainsaws, tarps, or wheelbarrows.

We’ll provide tools, snacks, and plenty of cold water. Let’s take breaks and look out for each other. 💧☀️

Hope to see you there! 🙌

LAST WEEK to join the District in helping our neighbors in need! 🫂

Thank you to all who participated in Cortex's District-Wide Donation Drive over the course of this month! Because of your generosity, we have collected over 1600 essential items for our neighbors who were hit hard by the recent tornado disaster.

In partnership with ULSTL, we present the final week of donation collection (June 30-July 3,) as the District "Nurtures Families", supporting families impacted by the storm. See donation list above.

One week left! We hope you'll consider adding these items to your weekend shopping list and drop them off next week at a Cortex District location near your workspace!
