We've asked our incredible teaching team to share the unexpected knowledge yoga revealed to them!

This month at the studio we're exploring the theme of knowledge, in all its forms. And here's what's beautiful... Every single teacher on our team started as a student, and they still are! We come to our mats seeking something, and yoga teaches us things that we never expected to learn!

Not just how to do poses (though that happened too), but profound insights about themselves. Their patterns their capacity for growth and change. Knowledge that shifted how they move through the world.

These are the real revelations from real people, who've allowed yoga to teach them something unexpected about who they are.

๐ŸŒŸExciting News๐ŸŒŸ We're so excited to welcome Jeannie Snook (.yogi) to our teaching team! Jeannie will be a regular sub on the schedule, so grab a class with her soon! Her first class she'll be subbing for is slated for 9/25 - 6am Sunrise Flow!

You may already know Jeannie or recognize her from a class since she has been a member at South River for several months now. Jeannie recently moved here from Texas. She completed her 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training this past weekend at Life Moves Yoga in TX, where she has been teaching yoga for several years.

We know that Jeannie is going to make a great addition to our teaching team and all the classes that she subs will be in great hands!

This month at South River, we're exploring KNOWLEDGE in all its forms. And here's something most people don't realize: the most profound knowledge you'll ever access isn't in any book or Google search. It's already within you.

We live in a world that teaches us to override our body's signals. Push through fatigue. Ignore discomfort. Power through pain. But what if I told you that your body processes 400 BILLION bits of information every second?
Your nervous system is constantly gathering data about what you need - rest, movement, nourishment, boundaries. This month, we're diving deep into one of yoga's most transformative concepts โ€“ knowledge, or sometimes referred to as "jnana" in Sanskrit. But this isn't ๐‘ฑ๐‘ผ๐‘บ๐‘ป about learning poses or philosophy (though we love those too!).

In yoga, knowledge is about cultivating awareness, of our breath, our bodies, our patterns, and our true nature. It's the wisdom that comes from direct experience on the mat, the "aha!" moments in challenging poses, and the deep understanding that emerges when we quiet the mind.

๐ŸŒฟ You know how I'm always saying that everything we work on in our physical asana practice translates to something off the mat? Well, this is true about balance too.

You know how you can walk across a room without falling over? That's not luck, girl. Your body is making thousands of tiny adjustments every single second to keep you upright. No stress, no overthinking, just pure wisdom in action.

๐Ÿ’กAnd it hit me the other day... what if we could apply this same natural intelligence to the rest of our lives?
Think about it. When you're stressed, where do you ๐‘ญ๐‘ฌ๐‘ฌ๐‘ณ it first? Your shoulders creep up to your ears. When you're overwhelmed, your breathing gets shallow. When you're fighting something, your jaw gets tight. Your body is ๐’๐’Š๐’•๐’†๐’“๐’‚๐’๐’๐’š giving you a balance check every moment of the day.

I've been practicing yoga for years, and I'm finally connecting all the dots. Every time I wobble in tree pose, every micro-adjustment I make in warrior 3... I'm not just working on my physical balance. I'm training myself to trust that inner knowing we all have.
Here's what I'm learning: balance isn't about getting everything perfect. It's about staying responsive. It's about trusting that you know how to adjust when things get wobbly.
