๐Ÿ“ธI recently got some amazing new photos done by (and she inspired this post!) and thought it was the perfect excuse to share a little more about who I am beyond the yoga mat!

๐Ÿ‘‹๐ŸผHey there! I'm Annie - your 52-year-old yoga teacher, studio owner, and fellow life-juggler who discovered yoga during one of my most challenging seasons. What started as a desperate search for healing while managing illness, two kids, and a corporate career turned into a complete life transformation.

After 25+ years in the corporate world, I found my true calling: creating a space where women can find not just physical healing, but real community and clarity during life's biggest transitions.

Fun facts: I'm a mom to two amazing young men (they're basically adults now and I'm still figuring out how that happened! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ), a true crime podcast addict, and yes - A perfect vacation would be watching my favorite country artist (Morgan Wallen) on the beach, drinking iced tea and eating tacos!

This month at South River, we're diving deep into RHYTHM, and honestly, there's no better teacher than Chandra, the moon itself ๐ŸŒ™!

As women in this incredible season of life, we're learning that forcing old patterns doesn't work anymore. Our bodies are asking us to flow, to honor cycles, to work WITH our natural rhythms instead of against them.

The moon has been cycling for millions of years...28 days of growth, peak energy, release, and sacred rest. Sound familiar?

Our bodies are constantly whispering to us about what they need and when they need it. In Ayurveda (the sister science to yoga), this wisdom is called Dinacharya - the art of living in harmony with our natural daily rhythms.

Here's what's beautiful: these ancient cycles perfectly support us through the transitions we're navigating in midlife. When we're juggling kids activities, aging parents, demanding jobs, hormone changes, and everything in between, our days can feel chaotic. But when we align with these natural energies, we find our center again.

Here's how Ayurveda divides up our day:
โ˜€ Morning (6am-10am): Kapha time grounds us with movement and intention
๐Ÿ”ฅ Midday (10am-2pm): Pitta energy helps us tackle our biggest challenges with clarity
๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Afternoon (2pm-6pm): Vata invites us to move and process the day's stress
๐ŸŒ™ Evening (6pm-10pm): Kapha brings us back to connection and nourishment

Our bodies are designed for rhythm. From our heartbeat to hormonal cycles, from sleep patterns to the monthly rhythms that have guided us through decades, we are rhythmic beings.
