04/08/2025

August marks a new month and a review of all the work we have accomplished over the past eight weeks

-We've worked within 3 summer camps as Ambassador Program host for Juliet's Bloom.

-Young women received their very own Rose Blossom Box in preparation for back-to-school.

-Led young women through numerous self-love and education activities.

-Connected young women to medical professionals to learn the most up-to-date information about their bodies.

Missouri has finally ended the luxury tax on tampons! This new law cuts the tax rate on menstrual products and diapers by almost three-quarters to 1.225% (the same standard tax placed on groceries).

Missouri’s HB594 authorizes a state sales tax exemption for retail sales of diapers, feminine hygiene products, and incontinence products. These changes go into effect Aug. 28, 2025.

Have you heard the good news? Missouri has ended the Pink Tax by passing bill HB 594, eliminating the tax on period products like tampons, pads, liners, and menstrual cups. What a way to help decrease the number of women experiencing period poverty.

We have came to the end of the month and wanted to provide tips to talk to your partner about getting tested.
1.Have the conversation about testing prior to any physical interactions (it's ok if it's an awkward moment).

2.Suggest that you get tested together, or make plans to test separately. Agree to share your test results with one another before becoming intimate.

**There's an app called Zults that will allow you to safely share your results with potienal or current partners https://www.myrezults.com/

*If your partner gets defensive about testing, explain that you’re only thinking about health. You don’t need to know their dating history, and you don’t suspect infidelity.'

The app transforms medical data into a secure, user-friendly format to improve communication around sexual health and help reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) (STDs).

Last year's totals show a decrease in infection rates, let's keep that going with awareness and prevention.

THIS JUST IN: Missouri's STI rates are DROPPING LIKE IT'S HOT!

If you want an example of public health working, this is it. Education, resources and nonstop dedication from subject matter experts will get the job done. We are only just getting started.

So, the next time you think about skipping the condom, promise us that you're gonorrhea-valuate. 😉
