It is so easy to feel overwhelmed by the news and everything happening around us and fall into catastrophic thinking. That’s why the idea of glimmers and finding them in our day-to-day is so important. Coined by LCSW Deb Dana, glimmers are a way to check in with ourselves and reset our minds and bodies. They help us stay grounded and find our way back to our window of calm, counteracting our brain’s natural tendency to focus purely on the negative. By embracing these micro-moments, we can co-exist with the joy and the challenges.

We’re excited to share a recent article with featuring our owner, Yvette, and the heart behind Creative Counseling 4 Kids + Teens! Although our practice name was misspelled throughout the article, the message still reflects what this space stands for and the journey it took to get here.

As Yvette says:
“Creative Counseling 4 Kids & Teens is known for thinking outside the box, advocating for children, and creating a space where kids feel understood, empowered, and celebrated for who they are.”

Yvette’s passion and knowledge for this work radiates every day, and we’re honored to have CC4K+T’s mission highlighted for St. Louis families.

Let’s talk about hard, uncomfortable emotions. They can feel big, messy, or even shameful AND they’re there for good reason. Each emotion gives us information about what matters, what we need, and what’s happening inside us. Pausing to notice our feelings first helps us use that space and respond in a way that helps us grow.
