We are a Cemetery, Funeral Home, Crematory and Mausoleum.
Founded in 1911 as a stand alone Cemetery with 285 acres,
in 1917 the first above ground, indoor mausoleum was built to house both caskets and urns in an indoor environment to protect visitors from the heat of summer or the cold of winter. It sold out and additions were added in increments over time as demand persisted. In 1924, a four-chamber crematory was added plus, the Chapel of Memories. An indoor fountain that was made of bronze by French sculptor Paul DeBois...called the “Florentine Singer”, was first exhibited at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis. Until 1924, it was housed at the Campbell House Museum.
The mausoleum is now a 5 acre building, with over 14,000 cremation urns and crypts for caskets. As the trendsetters in the 1900’s and the oldest active crematory in St Louis, in 2018 Valhalla was the first funeral home to utilize Flameless Cremation called Aquamation.
Providing caskets and vaults for ground burial is currently offered to families that prefer to not have a long funeral procession down through town or the exorbitant expense of renting a hearse for the casket or motorcycle escorts.
Grave markers and monuments may be purchased for family estate lots and individual grave spaces.
Valhalla is the only family owned, funeral home, crematory, cemetery, indoor AND outdoor mausoleum, and columbarium in the greater St Louis area.
One phone call, one bill...couldn’t be much simpler.
