👋 Meet Kayela Malewitz, BA, MS
Psychometrist
When you come in for a psychological evaluation with Dr. Bono, you’ll likely meet Kayela, our thoughtful and hands-on psychometrist. She's the one who guides you through tasks that help us understand how you think and learn, and she’s always ready to answer your questions along the way.

With experience as a youth treatment specialist from 2021 to 2023 and a deepening focus on psychological testing since spring 2024, Kayela now works part-time with Horizon to support evaluations for ADHD, autism, and forensic concerns. She takes an integrative, whole-person approach - because you are so much more than data points.

Kayela is especially passionate about helping those who’ve felt like they don’t quite fit in, struggle with focus, or feel unsure about social connections. If that resonates, she and Dr. Bono are here to help you get answers and feel seen.

💬 “I enjoy helping others and empowering them when they get answers to what they’ve been feeling. It’s okay to ask for help.”

✨ Originally from Michigan, Kayela earned her BA from Grand Valley State University and moved to St. Louis for graduate school. Outside of work, you can find her curled up with a good book, coffee in hand, watching hockey, or thinking fondly of her three cats: Luna, Stormy, and Sunshine, who are back home with family.

She wants everyone who walks through our doors to feel safe, respected, and understood. 💛

💛 Meet Madison Nohren, LMSW
Therapist for Adults Navigating Trauma, Addiction & Shame-Based Struggles

Madison is a warm, compassionate therapist who helps adults heal from experiences they’ve often carried in silence, including trauma, compulsive sexual behaviors, po*******hy use, and addiction. If you’ve ever thought, “I’ve tried to stop so many times, but I always end up back in the same place,” or “I’ve never told anyone this before,” you’re not alone. Madison specializes in helping clients untangle those heavy, shame-laced experiences and move toward growth, connection, and self-understanding.

She’s been working with clients since 2021 and creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where healing can begin. Grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect for each person’s values, Madison helps clients take meaningful steps forward, whether that means setting new boundaries, improving relationships, or reconnecting with parts of themselves that were lost along the way.

🧠“I became a therapist to offer a safe space where people can finally release what they’ve been carrying in silence and begin transforming it into growth.” Madison joined Horizon for its deep commitment to compassionate care and collaborative support. Here, she’s part of a team that believes healing happens in relationship, with trust, presence, and shared understanding.

✨Outside the therapy room, she finds joy in gardening at sunset, laughing through her favorite sitcoms, and spending time with her two dogs (We**ie & Sammy) and two cats (Midnight & Cleo). 🐾
💬 “It may feel harder before it feels easier, but it really will feel worth it if you keep going.”

💛 Meet Kenadee Grogan, BA
Counselor in Training | Therapist for Teens, Emerging Adults & New Moms

Kenadee supports clients through some of life’s biggest pivots, whether that’s navigating anxiety, exploring identity, building self-esteem, or stepping into new roles like parenthood. Her calm, empowering presence helps teens, college students, and young adults feel safe and seen as they work through self-doubt, comparison, and the pressures of early adulthood.
If you find yourself stuck in constant comparison or unsure how to break free from self-doubt, Kenadee offers a collaborative space to begin rewriting that story. Drawing from CBT and person-centered therapy, she helps clients build confidence, set boundaries, and grow into who they are meant to be.

🧠 "I knew what I needed in a therapist, so I try to bring that same energy to the people I work with now." Kenadee joined Horizon because she was drawn to its community-first mission and commitment to accessible, values-driven care. Her path to therapy began long before graduate school, from working as a mental health aide at a boys’ home to completing practicum work in East St. Louis. Today, she continues that passion as a proud clinical intern. Kenadee will be sitting for her licensure exam at the end of July and will submit her application for licensure upon passing her exam.

✨Outside of the therapy room, you’ll likely find her hanging out with her partner, shopping for candles, sipping matcha, or snuggling with her dog, Frankie. 💚

💬 “Not everybody is for you, and that’s okay.”

💛 Meet Dr. Stephanie Bono, JD, PhD, LP
Licensed Psychologist | Founder of Horizon Therapy and Assessment Services

With a warm, relational, and collaborative approach, Dr. Bono believes healing begins with being seen. Her work helps clients build more authentic relationships with themselves and others while honoring their unique ways of thinking and being. Since becoming a licensed psychologist in 2019, she has helped adults reconnect with themselves, process pain, and embrace growth without apology.

Dr. Bono works with neurodivergent adults and individuals navigating trauma, identity exploration, relationship challenges, life transitions, and sexual concerns. She also provides psychological testing for adults, specializing in comprehensive assessments for Autism and ADHD. In all aspects of her work, Dr. Bono’s approach is both neurodiversity affirming and trauma informed.

In addition to her clinical work with clients, Dr. Bono provides supervision to graduate students and early-career therapists as they develop their skills and professional identity. She is passionate about creating a supportive, reflective space where emerging clinicians can grow with confidence and authenticity. Dr. Bono also offers consultation to fellow professionals, with a particular focus on psychological testing. She enjoys collaborating with other providers to support thoughtful, comprehensive assessment practices that are both neurodiversity affirming and clinically grounded.

🧠Dr. Bono founded Horizon Therapy with the vision of creating more than a traditional therapy practice. She wanted to build a space where people feel deeply accepted and supported in becoming their full selves. Horizon reflects her belief that mental health care should be real, relational, and rooted in community. As the practice grows, so does its commitment to making healing more accessible, more affirming, and more human.

💬“I became a Psychologist because I know how painful it is to feel unseen. This work is about creating a space where you don’t have to shrink, hide, or explain the core of who you are.”

✨Outside the therapy room, Stephanie finds joy in brisk autumn days, road trips with snacks and music, and time with her two dogs, Charley and Georgia. As a neurodivergent person herself, she brings deep empathy, curiosity, and a whole-person perspective to her work.
