Everyone needs to see these owls, because owls are wise, and amazing.

Whooooo are you?

Shakespeare, the Barred Owl, is back on Avian Avenue, and a new friend has joined him in his aviary: Gordon! We weren't sure how the introductions would go as Shakespeare has been living by himself his whole 21 years of life, and Gordon his 2 years. Shakespeare has lived on Avian Avenue for most of his life, while Gordon was an education ambassador who traveled around the Midwest for the last couple of years. Both birds have different backgrounds and personalities, so we were very happy when they got along. Upon entering the aviary, they briefly acknowledged each other, explored the aviary, and then each picked their preferred perch. They are mostly ignoring each other, which is a very good sign as birds of prey usually only interact for breeding or defending territory. This means that they are getting along exactly as two Barred Owls sharing an aviary should! You can wish Gordon a warm welcome to Avian Avenue and Shakespeare a welcome back by stopping by for a visit.
