Three years ago, young Uriah and his family received devastating news: He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL, a blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow and quickly spreads.

After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and other care at Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital, the 8-year-old recently rang the bell signifying the end of his treatment! With his mom, Sara, and dad, Jesse, Uriah celebrated a return to better days.

Every year, nearly 15,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. For all of them, we recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor patients and families affected by the disease and to celebrate advances in pediatric treatment and care.
