Timothy Yau, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and widely respected educator at WashU Nephrology, will present the Medicine CPC (clinicopathological conference) on January 16, 2026, 12:15-1 pm, in Clopton Auditorium, Wohl Clinic, 4950 Children’s Place, St. Louis, MO 63110.

The CPC is a long-standing, case-based teaching format that guides learners through clinical reasoning and diagnostic problem-solving. Each session features a challenging case designed to lead the audience toward an evidence-based final diagnosis.

Dr. Yau will present the following case: “A 69-year-old woman with a history of MDS/MPN and primary CNS DLBCL on Rituxan, hypothyroidism, and hypertension, presenting with 10 days of fever, chills, and headache.”

Please forward to anyone who may be interested:

There is still time to register for the St. Louis Fellows Forum on January 22, 2026, at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel in St. Louis.

Hosted by the National Kidney Foundation serving Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas, the event brings together renal fellows and mentoring teams from WashU Nephrology and SLU for an evening of professional education.

WashU transplant fellow Zainulabdeen Alsaedi, MD, and nephrology fellow Yazan Kharabsheh, MD, along with mentors Seth Goldberg, MD, and Massini Merzkani, MD, will present “Advances in Glomerulonephritis.”

SLU nephrology fellows Amit Das, MBBS, MD, Kanza Khalid, DO, and Baris Afsar, MD, with mentors Kana Miyata, MD, and Aliza Anwar Memon, MD, will present “Glomerular Disease in the Era of Innovation.”

WashU Nephrology is proud to highlight Dr. Gonzalo Matzumura's role in the recent LIBERATE‑D (Liberation from Acute Dialysis) trial. The study shows that a conservative approach to dialysis in acute kidney injury leads to faster recovery without added risk.

This pivotal work challenges long‑standing practices and offers the first guidance on when - and how - to stop dialysis.

The Forest Park Kidney Center outpatient hemodialysis unit recently hosted its first Chili Cookoff, with Thomas Gowen (Nurse Administrator), Maria Carter (Medical Secretary III), and Lexi Morris (Dialysis Technician III) serving as judges of the four entries.

“I felt like I was a judge on one of those TV cooking shows,” says Gowen. “It was so much fun!”
