For years I thought that chasing perfectionism and pushing through was the solution to success. I had it all wrong.

For me, it started as an athlete, but sometimes I think I was just born with it. For you, maybe it was or is something different.

Chalking my hands for the bars to cover the holes of my rips. Taping my ankles so tight when they were sprained so I could still compete. Taping my shins to cut my circulation because the shin splints were killing me. Sitting on the side waiting for my mom to pick me up because my migraine was so bad, that I now know that was the insane amount of tension I had.

Setting a constant schedule for myself to make sure I worked out, ate healthy, had straight As, was a good friend, played sports, was in clubs…..it never ended and it was always SOMETHING that I needed to do better. Who can relate?

These are just some examples.

But what I’ve realized after the years and through all of the hard, blood, sweat, and tears, is how that completely wrecked me.

Emotionally, I was constantly trying to people please and didn’t even care what Austyn wanted. Hanging with friends that maybe I had nothing in common with

Physically, my body hurt, my hormones gone….literally no DHEA or testosterone. Chronic migraines, and tension headaches.

Mentally, anxiety, depression, and a girl that was hiding behind what she melted into over the years, but actually was lost to embrace her real identity.

But if I asked you right now if you lost the closest person to you tomorrow- would you think about those things?

What about if you lost your health? Legs? Arms? Vision? Hearing? Would you think about the “next thing” or would you pray for that back?

Life is about putting things into perspective. We all do that too little. We burn ourselves to the ground and then we miss out on dreams or moments because we’re so wrapped up in the NOTHING.

Make your life the something. Take care of your temple and your home because if you lost the rest you would have that, and that’s the most powerful thing you can have.
