Our stretch therapies are provided to people of all ages and abilities, and are categorized as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching, myofascial release (MFR), and a personalized combination of PNF and MFR stretching to reduce and eliminate specified areas of pain.
PNF stretching (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) enhances both active and passive range of motion in order to improve muscle performance. This form is considered an optimal stretching method when the aim is to increase range of motion. Our 20-minute session, The Carey Stretch, lengthens treated tissues to reduce the range of muscle pain, allowing for improved flexibility and muscle motion.
MFR (Myofascial Release) is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. This process aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles. This technique is most effective when followed by the Carey Stretch
Benefits of PNF and MFR Stretching
Improve flexibility and range of motion
Relieve muscle soreness and joint stress
Improve circulation and mental alertness
Relieve muscle tension and reduces stress
Improve neuromuscular efficiency
Improve performance and power
Prevent cramps and muscle strains
Improve overall health
About Cryotherapy
By enveloping the body with extremely cold air in a cryosauna, thermoreceptors in the skin send signals to the brain to pull blood to the core to protect organs by constricting blood vessels. The bodyโs metabolism accelerates and natural healing processes are activated. Blood is enriched with oxygen, enzymes, and nutrients to protect the body and optimize function.
Upon exiting the cryosauna the body warms and blood vessels expand. Nutrient rich blood flows back through the body speeding the healing process of tissues and skin. Pain and inflammation and pain is reduced, and the metabolic rate remains accelerated. The 3-minute sessions occur in cryosaunas, which are used by many professional athletes due to itโs benefits.
Benefits of Cryotherapy
Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) originated in Japan in 1978 when Dr Yamaguchi used freezing treatments of short duration on rheumatoid arthritis patients' skin surface for pain management. Sessions are regularly scheduled by athletes due to increases in muscle performance, accelerated workout recovery, and reduced muscle inflammation. The following benefits have also been proven with the use of cryotherapy: improved blood circulation, an accelerated metabolic rate (aids in weight-loss), and better skin complexion.
