Jessica Bishop Professional Genealogist

Jessica Bishop Professional Genealogist I specialize in uncovering your stories and ancestral connections that shape families. I bring curiosity and a deep respect for the past to every project.

Genealogy isn’t just a skillset for me, it’s a lifelong passion! I believe I was either 14 or 15 when I started researching. I felt this hole in my past from not getting to meet my father's parents. I, being the naturally inquisitive type, starting asking questions. My father didn't have much to say; it wasn't that he didn't know but more like I wasn't asking the right type of questions to prompt his memory. After an exhausting amount of effort, I took on the quest for myself. Of course, this was way before smart phones and most internet sites, so I had to actually go to the public library! I loved it! I probably felt more at home there than anywhere else. Soon, I gathered information on not only my grandparents, but on my great-grandparents. My father, who was beginning to become sick with cancer, was ecstatic. So that's why I became obsessed with genealogy--to make others remember their past and feel connected again to the people they loved.

Hi, I’m Jessica, a professional genealogist with nearly 30 years of experience helping individuals and families discover their roots, preserve their heritage, and uncover the stories that make their history unique.

I specialize in U.S. Midwest research, but my work also extends deeply into New England, Western Europe, and the Volga region of Russia. Whether you’re looking to trace immigrant ancestors, confirm family legends, or make sense of your DNA matches, I bring the tools and experience to guide your journey.

I work extensively with Ancestry, FamilySearch, and GEDmatch, combining traditional records with genetic genealogy to build strong, evidence-based family trees. My research style is both thorough and compassionate—I know every name in your tree has a story worth telling.

Genealogy is more than a profession for me—it’s a lifelong passion. I’d be honored to help you explore your family’s past and preserve it for future generations.
