Stafford Springs Soccer Club The Stafford Springs Soccer Club (SSSC) is a volunteer organization dedicated to youth soccer in Stafford Springs, Connecticut.

The Stafford Springs Soccer Club, or SSSC, is a local organization dedicated to providing a safe environment for the youth of our town to participate in the sport of soccer. The club is affiliated with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) in the Northeast District in the state of Connecticut, and part of US Youth Soccer (the national youth soccer organizing body). The club operates an active youth program year round, with fall season participation for ages 4-13 years old for approximately 350 youth and 75 adult volunteers. Additionally, winter, spring and summer programs include high school aged youth for annual participation rates exceeding 400 kids. The club was first formed in 1979 initially with an adult team and operated its first youth team in the Under 14 Boys travel division in the NE district in 1980. The club grew to a half dozen travel teams in the 10-14 year old range for subsequent seasons attracting nearly 80 kids through the early 1980's each Fall. The club blossomed in the late 1980's by initiating younger programs participating in town regularly involving 350-400 kids annually starting in the early 1990's through today. The first Parent's Association was organized by Ken Blanchard, and with assistance from Sue Fisher, Lorraine Holland and Bruce Posocco, helped with much of the administrative burden. Since our inception, we estimate to have seen over 2,000 kids come through the club many of which enjoyed soccer for over 8 years from entry until high school, and others longer as they compete in high school and college. We have stopped counting the second generation soccer players. We are certainly proud of the girls that brought us a state high school soccer championship and three state indoor tournament championships, most of which grew up in the soccer club. We are ever so proud of our local hero, Jeff Braun, who so much loved playing soccer. The club recognizes a significant volunteer contribution annually with its Service Award. The running list of service award recipients is shown below. Without the help of many dedicated volunteers, the programs offered would be unable to operate. Further, we are forever grateful to the generosity and enthusiasm of George Koulisis from the Stafford House of Pizza for his support in getting the early programs going. The club is strictly a non-profit organization dedicated to soccer, using fees and fund raising to support the activities of the program. The club is further supported by the Town of Stafford with an annual stipend for durable equipment, and with outstanding care and preparation of the fields used at the Stafford High School and Stafford Middle School complex. The club was the first in our local district to host a jamboree, organizing the preseason tournament for 8 years in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The club also twice served as host for what has become an annual district fun day tournament for all Under 10 teams, attracting over 75 teams each November. This is certainly not something that would be possible without our great facilities.

Spring Soccer 2026 registration is open.
Recreational programs for kids aged 3-7 (born in 2022-2018) will start Saturday April 25.
Travel teams at Boys U9-10, U13-15 and Girls U10-U11 are anticipated. Waitlist for other ages.

Registration is now open for Spring Soccer for both Travel teams and Recreational programs. The recreation programs are for kids aged 3-7 (as of 12/31/2025). Cost is $20/player, discounted for kids who played Rec soccer in the fall. Saturday mornings at the Stafford High School varsity soccer field.

As always, volunteers to facilitate the play are always needed and welcome.

The club is fielding travel teams at Boys U9-10, U13-15 and Girls U10-U11 that will compete in the NorthEast District and Central North Central travel programs.

All home travel games are played at the Stafford Middle School soccer fields; schedules will be posted on the club website Stafford Springs Soccer Club on or about April 10.

💔 Community Update – Family Needs Support After House Fire 💔

Earlier today, a family right up the road tragically lost their home. We are currently collecting information and coordinating support for them.

At the time of the loss, 5 people were living in the home:

Age 10 (Boy, size 10/12 and shoe size is 4 youth)

Age 8 (Girl, size 8/9, shoe is 3 youth)

Age 6 (Boy, Size 7 & Shoe is 1 youth)

Age 50 (Mother, Med / Large Tops size 10 Pants)

Age 60 (Father, XL Tops, Size 38/30 Pants)

URGENT NEEDS:
Snow gear (hats, jackets, gloves)
School Items (lunchbags, backpacks & water bottles)

With the cold weather, this is especially urgent — they need help staying warm, safe, and supported right now.

We intend to open the gym at Stafford High School for some supervised pick-up soccer on Sunday afternoons during January, February and March. The modest registration fee ($30 for all 12 sessions) is to cover our costs for the custodians. First day is January 11, 2026. We will publish gym time assignments for the various age groups in 60 or 90-minute intervals based on registrations on January 4, 2026. We intend to schedule the youngest age groups at the earlier times (Noon or so) and progressively older as the afternoon goes on.

Registration is now open online for winter indoor soccer gym time for kids ages 3--7, 8-14 & high school. We intend to open the gym at Stafford High School for some supervised pick-up soccer on Sunday afternoons during January, February and March. The modest registration fee ($30 for all 12 sessions) is to cover our costs for the custodians. First day is January 11, 2026. We will publish gym time assignments for the various age groups in 60 or 90-minute intervals based on registrations on January 1, 2026. We intend to schedule the youngest age groups at the earlier times (Noon or so) and progressively older as the afternoon goes on.

Lots of "new" going on at SSSC..

Fund Raising Initiatives Upcoming

We are ramping up fund-raising efforts. Becky Murphy will be reaching out for your help. We have two major goals. One is to replace the funds from the Town of Stafford stipend that was removed from the budget for this current fiscal year. This had helped fund equipment needs for all programs. Two is to absorb the cost of travel uniforms. This is a big ask but we are confident this initiative can be successful.

New Travel Uniform kit policy

The travel uniform policy is changing. Rather than ask each family to order and pay for their personal travel uniform online, the club has arranged to procure full kits of jersey, shorts and socks. This will require the new fund-raising initiatives we are kicking off to be successful. But starting immediately, families do NOT need to purchase their travel uniforms any longer.

New FanWear and Apparel Store

With the support of Kara Blais, the club has opened its new FanWear store. Kara has just started to publicize it on social media. A portion of sales helps the club raise some funds. There is some good swag on there. There is a new link on the club website for easy access. Check it out.

New CSF Scholarship Fund

Thanks to the generosity of Ron Campo, you can direct any donations you make to the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of Stafford Springs in the name of the Stafford Springs Soccer Club to help fund a college scholarship for a Stafford High School senior. Applicants should mention any previous participation or future aspirations with soccer when they apply for their scholarship.
