Aquatic Therapy
The facility at Theramedic Rehab offers a complete gym equipped with exercise equipment, weights and specialized therapy tools. In addition, the on-site pool facility enables therapists to incorporate aquatic therapy into patient rehabilitation plans. The beneficial properties of aquatic therapy, coupled with specific therapy practices, maximize treatment options and facilitate recovery. Water therapy has the unique ability to reduce pain and swelling, build strength, create endurance, increase mobility and even relax patients in the process. Whether treating a musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiac or orthopedic condition, patients can benefit from water’s capacity to:
Reduce pain and inflammation
Decrease muscle guarding
Improve circulation
Increase range of motion and flexibility
Decompress inflamed joints and discs
Provide resistance
Promote strength and endurance
Create buoyancy that can enable assistance
Lessen swelling and edema with hydrostatic properties
Whether treating chronic pain, recovering from surgery or treating conditions that resulted from an accident, aquatic therapy is ideal for patients with: Acute and chronic tendonitis; Disc injuries; Fibromyalgia; Spinal stenosis; Neck and back pain; Joint pain—elbow, wrist, hand, hips, knees and feet ; Multiple sclerosis; Shoulder and rotator cuff injuries.
