The Staley Fire Department (STFD) is a non profit organization that serves the community of Staley as well as the community within the fire district. The Fire Department is a combination department, we have 5 part-time paid positions and 38 volunteers. We provide coverage from 9 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday with the part-time positions. The state regulates that each member of the fire departme
nt is required to have a minimum of 36 training hours a year and the fire department requires at least the same out of each member. It is not unusual to see some of the Staley Firemen get over 100 training hours per year. It is important that firefighters are trained so that when they arrive on the scene of an emergency, they will be able to provide the correct techniques to handle the incident. The state has 22 firefighter level I and II classes, medical responder, EMT-B, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Operations, which are the basic classes a firefighter can take to provide care on an incident.
