Every July 21, we recognize Zero HIV Stigma Day, a global movement uniting people, communities, and countries to raise awareness about HIV stigma and take action against it.

Despite incredible advancements in treatment and prevention, HIV stigma still creates barriers to accessing health care and supportive services. This stigma is compounded for people who experience multiple intersections of marginalization, such as people of color, q***r and trans people, people with disabilities, s*x workers, and people who use drugs.

This year's theme, “Awareness to Action: Our Path to 2030," calls on everyone from individuals to institutions to take part in moving beyond awareness and taking real action to eliminate HIV stigma.

Anchor Health is committed to destigmatising HIV and building a future where all people receive the compassionate, comprehensive, and equitable health care they deserve. ❤️

Today, the United States Supreme Court upheld Tennessee's ban on science-based, life-saving health care for transgender and gender diverse youth. This ruling is a devastating attack against the autonomy and lives of trans people.

Every major medical, pediatric, and psychological association in the U.S. recognizes that providing medical care to trans youth is safe and effective. By upholding this ban, the Court ignored decades of overwhelming research showing it is essential to the health and well-being of trans youth.

While this decision does not affect trans youth receiving care at Anchor Health or in Connecticut, we stand firmly with those it does. You deserve better than this. You deserve to be seen, heard, and affirmed in every aspect of your life, including your medical care. You deserve respect and dignity in the decisions made with your family and health care provider, free from political interference.

Today's ruling is a painful setback, but we are as resolved as ever in our fight for the health equity of every trans person and realizing a future where all people can access the care they need.

Our health centers will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. We'll resume regular hours on Friday, June 20. Our pharmacy will be open.

Juneteenth commemorates the events of June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger read a proclamation that all enslaved Black Americans in Texas were finally to be set free. Juneteenth emphasizes education, reflection, and restoration.

We encourage you to use this time to educate yourself about the systemic racism and structural barriers that impact Black people in wealth, health care, the criminal justice system, housing, education, and more.
