I am deeply humbled and truly honored to receive the prestigious Leon Goldman Memorial Award from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). This recognition holds special meaning to me, not only for the incredible legacy it represents but also because of the mentors who have shaped my career.

Dr. Leon Goldman’s groundbreaking work in laser medicine has been a guiding light for so many in our field, and to be recognized with an award that bears his name is a profound privilege. His contributions to dermatology and laser science were not only innovative but visionary, and they continue to inspire all of us working in this space today.

To receive this award is particularly meaningful, as I am following in the footsteps of many of my own mentors, who were also past recipients of this honor. Their guidance, wisdom, and unwavering support have been invaluable in my journey. I owe so much of my progress and passion for dermatology to the dedication and mentorship they provided me, and it is truly humbling to be part of this esteemed lineage of innovators.

This award is a testament not just to individual achievement, but to the collaborative spirit that drives our field forward. I am grateful to my colleagues, patients, and mentors for helping me to continually push the boundaries of what we can achieve in laser medicine. This message I came across recently on one of our social media platforms made Dr. Omar Ibrahimi’s week!

Recognizing that dermatology extends far beyond the stereotypical images of popping pimples or administering Botox, I want to express the profound impact it has on people’s lives. In the realm of skin health, dermatologists work transcends surface-level treatments, delving into the realms of confidence, self-esteem, and overall well-being. It’s not just about addressing external concerns; it’s about empowering individuals to embrace their skin journey with authenticity and self-assurance.

This message acknowledging the depth of dermatologists’ efforts, reinforces the meaningful contributions they make daily.

Follow for more skin tips, advice on lasers/aesthetics and to watch interesting procedural videos.

Age is just a number, but sometimes, it's hard to believe when you see two women in their 50s who look decades apart in terms of their appearance. While genes play a role, there are five common factors that can significantly age one person compared to another, regardless of their biological age:
* Sun Exposure: One of the biggest culprits behind premature aging is excessive sun exposure without proper protection. Neglecting sunscreen or using it improperly can lead to sun damage and accelerate the aging process. Remember to protect not just your face but also your neck and body from harmful UV rays.
* Smoking: Beyond the obvious health risks, smoking can take a toll on your skin as well. It not only accelerates the aging process but also causes deep lines and wrinkles, particularly around the mouth area.
* Sleep: The phrase "beauty sleep" exists for a reason. Consistently not getting enough sleep can have adverse effects on your skin's health and appearance. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night to allow your body and skin to rejuvenate.
* Alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption can be dehydrating, leading to parched and tired-looking skin. Moderation is key; try to limit your alcohol intake to maintain your skin's natural glow.
* Stress: We all experience stress in life, but chronic stress can wreak havoc on our overall well-being, including our skin. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, meditation, or spending time in nature. Your skin will thank you for it.

Remember, these factors not only impact your outer appearance but also your inner health. Taking care of yourself from the inside out will reflect in a more youthful and vibrant appearance. Embrace a healthy lifestyle, and age gracefully, knowing that you have the power to influence how you look and feel as you grow older.
