Back from an exciting weekend in Denver!
Dr. Evans was there to present his talk: “The Quality of Prenatal Life Shapes Nations” at the Association of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health’s Annual Congress, where he serves as their Medical Director.
His co-presenter Laura Uplinger, a Dear Friend and colleague, is an educator in the field of conscious prenatal and perinatal parenting. She travels in Latin America addressing birth professionals, high school and college students, pregnant couples and those interested in prenatal psychology. In Brazil, she is the vice-president of ANEP, a national association for prenatal education. She teaches a yearly post graduate course on Primal Health, at the University of Concepcion, Chile. As a representative of OMAEP- the World Organization of the Associations for Prenatal Education-to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (E.C.O.S.O.C), she envisions each and every country striving for the wellbeing of all it’s pregnant Mothers.
In addition to his talk, Dr. Evans was interviewed for a documentary to be released in Brazil about the prenatal experience for babies while they are still in the womb.
Of course, no trip to Denver would be complete without a visit to see his Son, Spencer, at Medical School!

Dr.Evans Transformative Tip:

New national guidelines for which patients should be tested for genetic breast cancer risk, the BRCA gene mutation, have just been released. Now, any woman that has been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer or has a family history, in addition to having an ancestry with an increased risk of BRCA (Ashkenazi Jewish), should be tested for the presence of the gene.
In fact, the US Preventative Services Task Force now says “identification of individuals at risk of carrying a BRCA 1/2 mutation can be lifesaving and should be a part of routine medical care.”

Dr. Evans has a special interest and expertise in breast cancer prevention, and serves as Medical Director of the Keep-a-Breast Foundation (www.keep-a-breast.org).

We encourage all of our patients to discuss their breast cancer risk at their next appointment.

What we do...

Functional Medicine is an approach to health that views most symptoms and diseases as the result of an imbalance in the body. An excess, such as too much stress, or a deficiency, such as not enough healthy intestinal bacteria, creates an environment that promotes the development of ill health. Our experience, fully supported by science, has shown us that when imbalances are corrected, symptoms and diseases can improve and even disappear.

Care at the Center for Functional Medicine will involve a meticulous and thorough assessment to identify the root causes of imbalance and create protocols to restore harmony in the body. Our treatment plans will show you how to utilize medication and surgery as a last resort, not a first choice. We will serve as a source of inspiration and information by offering coaches, nutritionists, mind/body therapists and lifestyle educators.
