In this session, we’re using a total communication approach, combining verbal speech approximations with AAC to give this kiddo multiple ways to express himself.

Every attempt matters, whether it’s a word, a sound, or a button press. We’re using strategies like expectant pause to encourage communication attempts, use of slow speaking rate while modeling, narration to model functional language, and gentle verbal prompts for breath support to support motor planning πŸ—£οΈ

Switch-activated toys, like this switch-activated bubble machine, are more than just fun. They are powerful tools for building communication. These toys also promote intentional communication, turn-taking, engagement, and early requesting skills 🫧
