"What can I be doing now to help me get recruited for my sport?" is the most commonly asked question. And the answer that no one likes is, "It depends." Here we can answer your questions depending on what year you are and where you are in the recruitment process.
Freshman - Keep playing well. Push yourself in the right program to be as successful and impactful as you can be. Are you playing so well on the field that you are the difference maker and the X factor? Begin building film and think about which schools are realistic target schools for you.
Sophomore - Begin reaching out and narrow your focus on certain colleges. Sophomore spring is important especially because college coaches can begin reaching out to you during the summer between sophomore and junior year. So begin those general outreach emails and fill out questionnaires now!
Junior - Hopefully you have firm talks with college coaches and you are able to ask them where you are in their recruiting class. Play well at their camps and clinics and any other ID/Showcase that they will be attending. Hit your PR's and play your best! Final months of your junior year, you will also have to get your profile ready to send to the admissions team for the academic preread.
Senior - You will hopefully be making final conversations to solidify the coach's support through the admissions process. You will verbally commit. Hopefully you are ready to apply Early Decision or (more rarely) Regular Decision to the school of your dreams!
If recruitment does not happen, or you are not recruited to a school that matched your academic aspirations, playing club or intramurals in a great option! Do not be disappointed.
