"What can I be doing now to help me get recruited for my sport?" is the most commonly asked question. And the answer that no one likes is, "It depends." Here we can answer your questions depending on what year you are and where you are in the recruitment process.
Freshman - Keep playing well. Push yourself in the right program to be as successful and impactful as you can be. Are you playing so well on the field that you are the difference maker and the X factor? Begin building film and think about which schools are realistic target schools for you.
Sophomore - Begin reaching out and narrow your focus on certain colleges. Sophomore spring is important especially because college coaches can begin reaching out to you during the summer between sophomore and junior year. So begin those general outreach emails and fill out questionnaires now!
Junior - Hopefully you have firm talks with college coaches and you are able to ask them where you are in their recruiting class. Play well at their camps and clinics and any other ID/Showcase that they will be attending. Hit your PR's and play your best! Final months of your junior year, you will also have to get your profile ready to send to the admissions team for the academic preread.
Senior - You will hopefully be making final conversations to solidify the coach's support through the admissions process. You will verbally commit. Hopefully you are ready to apply Early Decision or (more rarely) Regular Decision to the school of your dreams!
If recruitment does not happen, or you are not recruited to a school that matched your academic aspirations, playing club or intramurals in a great option! Do not be disappointed.

For all high school students, picking classes can be as deliberate as they make it. For me, as a college counselor, I expect my students to be involved in the process of creating their educational curriculum. I want them to have agency and be thoughtful in their academic path for the four years of high school, so they will also then understand how to create the next path in college that ultimately shapes their passions, interests and even careers. Let me know if anyone needs advice. Always happy to help navigate the nuances of how transcripts are read.

What a great coach and leader

As the leader, Saban needed to take some of the disappointment off of both young men’s shoulders and bring the focus back to the process, not the result. He commended both for their leadership skills and their dedication, and by doing so, sent a message to next year’s team about what is required to get to the mountaintop.… See more

When they say PA is the hotbed of hockey, they are not joking. 13 out of 20 players are from PA. But let's go Beth Yeager!

I love this tip sheet graphic for how to visit a college. Being a savvy consumer, as students are about to make the biggest decision of their life up to this point, is so important. As they say when buying a car, kick the rims and check under the hood.

With schools being closed and social distancing measures being implemented, standardized testing sites have been shut down and resultantly thousands of students are left with the inability to take a SAT or ACT at all. What should they do? How are colleges reacting to this situation?

Even Nick Saban is checking his own emails now for the first time ever. If that doesn’t tell you how much more time is on these coaches’ hands I don’t know what will.

This article describes how Covid-19 is affecting the collegiate recruitment world from a football perspective - virtual junior days, virtual tours of the locker room, recovery room and turf facilities. Here a Louisiana football player is getting looks from Boston for the first time, as online recruitment picks up amidst Covids lockdown and the NCAA restrictions on in-person contact.

After filming and editing Elizabeth Brissette's skills video, a college coach really liked the impromptu dancing in the middle of her skills because it highlighted a bit of E's genuinely sweet personality. I am so proud of her and so thrilled to have been a part of her process.

I visited Lafayette, Muhlenberg and Lehigh today. All beautiful schools in the Lehigh Valley just over the PA/NJ state line in Easton, Allentown, and Bethlehem respectively.

Lafayette is only about 2500 undergrads and no graduate students on 340 acres. It has a quaint feel w uniform red brick walkways making up almost 90% of the walk ways. I love the hilltop setting and the town of Easton. Strong engineering and liberal arts. Smallest d1 school and quite good considering.

Muhlenberg the nurturing campus was worth the trip. On Chew street in Allentown it doesn’t have the quaint or prestige or allure that Lehigh and Lafayette have, but for the right kid it could be perfect. 30% Jewish students w active Hillel and a rabbi overseeing the 2 sections of kosher dining options! D3 athletics, great extracurriculars, and attentive teachers. 2400 undergrads. 75 acre campus.

Lehigh was high! Lots of hills, stairs and allure. Esteemed engineering traditions including the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge and the invention of the escalator among many Lehigh inventions. 5000 undergrads and 2000 grads. D1 and huge rivals of Lafayette. Good wrestling. 3 main schools for undergrads - college of arts & sciences, engineering and Economics. A lot of Greek life and social activities. 2300 acres and three campuses.

Here are some pretty pics of each.
