What a great week catching up with fellow Visiting Angels franchisees at the annual conference in Boston! I’m always challenged this week to step out of my comfort zone and see things from another viewpoint: it could be a new way of incentivizing caregivers, empowering a team member, or another way for our clients struggling with dementia to feel seen.

Excited to be celebrating 12 years in business and to see 21 new franchises open this year! So proud of our team who pushed us into the top 5%, and grateful for such a supportive home office and fellow franchise owners who have become great friends. So much learned, so much to implement, looking forward to a great year ahead! (ignore our favorite NY franchise in the Red Sox gear😂)

Today we honor people like Siggy. A recent centenarian, Siggy fought proudly for his country in WWII and continues to live life to the fullest. He wears a smile everyday; his two care angels, Lenny and Iris, have to constantly remind him that it’s his turn to receive a little TLC. No matter his mood or physical ailments, he will always be a protector, a provider and a proud patriot🇺🇸 Happy Veterans Day!

It takes a special type of person to be a caregiver. It's showing up everyday with positive energy and a smile, so the person in front of you can feel seen. It's practicing patience and compassion daily, when this is often tested with repetitive questions and tasks. And it's giving people permission to be their best selves, at a time in their life when that freedom may no longer come as easily.

We are thrilled to be starting our Caregiver of Month Award program with a man who exudes all of these amazing qualities. Ramon is the kind of person who puts our clients' needs first, proactively communicates with our team on any changes in status, and brings compassion and enthusiasm to his work. Our clients love him as much as we do!! Congratulations to Ramon, we are so fortunate to have you as one of our Angels!

Thanks to Diane DeMain and the Parkinson’s Support Group with Greenwich Hospital for hosting our home care education lunch! Diane’s program meets weekly and is an opportunity for those living with Parkinson’s (and their families) to come together for educational programs, exercise, and provides family caregivers with resources and support.
