This evening members responded to a structure fire on Fawn Drive. After discovering the side of the house on fire the homeowner dialed 911 and deployed a garden hose(while not recommended, it proved effective tonight). The remaining fire was quickly extinguished by Engine 43’s first hose line. Live wires were down requiring assistance from Eversource. Belltown and Stamford firefighters worked together to overhaul and ventilate the home, the Stamford Fire Marshal’s office is investigating, there were no injuries.

Chief Morris (whose firefighting career started at Belltown!) stopped by the station this evening and members had the opportunity to gift him a little surprise 🎁! A brand new Denim Jacket!!The individuals who have worked and trained with Chief Morris are well aware of his vast firefighting knowledge and experience (plus his large collection and love of denim jackets) This gift is definitely something he will appreciate and use! Thank you probationary member Mario Flores for designing the jacket.

Early this morning Tower Ladder 45 was requested to cover Stamford Fire Headquarters while their members operated at what quickly became a 4th alarm fire in the heart of downtown Stamford. With our station already staffed overnight with four certified firefighters we were able to immediately fill the request.

Additional volunteers pivoted from their daily routines and we were able to add a 5th firefighter and probationary member to the truck crew while also covering Belltown.

Later in the morning, members responded to assist Norwalk FD with a stuck elevator at the Stamford Train Station. Greenwich Fire, also in town for coverage, responded as well creating an unusual situation where Belltown, Norwalk and Greenwich briefly operated together under Norwalk Car 7(DC Coppola), a Belltown veteran himself.

Members staffed Engine 43 back in our quarters through about 1PM when most units had cleared the fire.
