Expected 1099 Reporting Change in 2026 – A welcome change for Clinical Trial participants U.S. stipend payments. Starting in 2026, the reporting threshold for 1099 Forms is expected to increase from $600 to $2,000.

This change is part of recent federal legislation and will impact payments made on or after January 1, 2026. The threshold is also expected to be indexed for inflation beginning in 2027. We’re watching closely for official IRS guidance to be published.
