We've all had to dig deep this year to find our ground when everything we were used to calling normal disappeared. Many days I felt challenged to the core and entertained myself with escapist fantasies of remote islands where the enforced aloneness would at least make sense...just me, the thatched hut, the palm tree, and high-speed internet.

But that hasn't happened so far, and so I've been leaning in to option B—which is corraling my negative "I don't want to do this anymore, I'm so sick of this" thoughts (of course I don't, who does?) and thinking about all that is good in my life, the many ways I am blessed. So while I really miss my kids, friends, and loved ones, I am blessed to have kids, friends, and loved ones...and so much more. I am grateful today Christmas morning as I look at my tiny 18" tree, covered in lights and bulbs listening to Classical Christmas Music.

To all those who have lost loved ones this year and are mourning, my heart goes out to you. To all those who are struggling to make ends meet, my heart goes out to you. To all our exhausted healthcare workers my heart goes out to you and I THANK YOU!

Blessings and Best Wishes to all.
With Love,
Lisa

We are all trying to find our way through this. As the days pass you may find your initial plans and coping strategies changing, your moods and emotions more labile moment to moment. Be kind to yourself. We are a living a shared trauma, and worse, an ongoing one, where there is no clear end or outcome in sight.

Yesterday a friend shared a story from Pocket with me, originally written for the New Yorker in 2002. Before she died, the author Grace Paley wrote about some advice her father gave her. It's wonderful advice and so I want to share it with you. "The main thing," he said to her, "is this — when you get up in the morning you must take your heart in your two hands. You must do this every morning." When Grace asked him if this was a metaphor, he said, "no, put your hands on your heart and push a little, pat, stroke a little, don't be ashamed...then you must talk to your heart, talk softly, say anything, but be respectful.

I am going to practice this. This is one I can do, because a) it takes so little time, and, b) I instinctively feel the power of this simple gesture. My addition to the exercise will be to listen to what my heart whispers back, to hear what my heart needs, hear its wisdom, at the least, to hear its steady rhythmic pulsation and remember that this connects me with all living creatures everywhere, always.

From my heart to yours....

Each one of us has a lower self. Just as the human being is intrinsically creative we also possess a destructive energy current. The lower self is, in fact, a tributary of the vital creative life current that has become split off and distorted. This current sabotages our best intentions, creates pain in our relationships, closes our heart, and keeps us distrustful of our own power. Most of us fear facing it. Instead, we deny it, suppress it, repress it, rise above it, and often project it onto others. The result is that we split off from an aspect of ourselves that has a great deal of energy to offer if we can tap into it in a contained and grounded environment, understand the dynamics of our attachment to it, and then transform the negativity of it back into the creative life current. Honestly facing, taking responsibility for, and integrating our lower self opens the path to the Core and allows the light and power of our Higher Self to permeate more of our life. — Lisa Loustaunau

The experience of being fully alive, which means a fully embodied experience, brings pleasure in being, feeling moving and sensing. It makes us open, curious, interested, engaged, involved, and joyous in the most real sense of the word. Full aliveness is a deeply sensual experience of the mystery of life and all its possibilities in every here and now.

Joseph Cambell put it thusly, “People say that what we’re seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. What we seek is an experience of being alive.”

Dearest friends and colleagues.
I left the last Core training module at the Institute of Core Energetics, my final as Academic Director, high on all the love and gratitude. I felt so deeply honored at the ritual Saturday night; it was truly one of the most unforgettable evenings of my life. I am touched by all of you who spoke, wrote, emailed, texted and contributed to my beautiful commemorative book. That book is a love story if ever there was one! I look forward to mentoring and supporting Jim Johnston over the coming transition time, He is a treasure and I leave the position knowing it rests in good hands and in a great heart.
PS. If any of you have photos of that evening please please send to me at my email address: LL4core@gmail.com...I look forward to continuing my journey of service as a teacher, mentor, practitioner, and supervisor and in whatever mysterious form(s) the universe has in store for me.

My prayer for this coming year is that I can hold my heart open and courageous so that my actions are informed by Love. I pray that I can hold an expanded vision of prosperity grounded in what truly enriches my soul and my humanity, so that my choices preserve and protect, rather than harm this fragile suffering environment on which my (and our) very lives depend. I want to hold fast to hope and possibility, especially in those moments...those moments... when I look around in disbelief and despair at how truth appears to have lost all meaning. I want to stop missing opportunities to tell those I love and care for and about, that I love and appreciate them deeply. If you have read this far, this most probably means you.

Happy New Years Blessings upon YOU, Joy, Abundance and all the LOVE your heart can hold (and even more :)

The messages our culture presents as to what it means to be a "real" man, has culminated in Trump and his ilk. This film, made in 2015, is powerful and important if we are to change the still so pervasive inculcation of toxic masculinity, where the mask of aggression is glorified and all vulnerability is seen as weakness.

Just back from teaching at my dear friend, Jorge Galindo's Core training program in Mexico. A wonderful group of soon-to-be practitioners. We explored the subject of Higher Self and Universal Life Plan (stages in the evolutionary process of Core Energetics that come after working through the defenses that create our social mask and taking responsibility to see and transform our Lower Self). The HIgher Self is NOT the good self (often a mask of Love, Serenity or Power)...it is the authentic self.

I just love working with my soon to be colleagues in Mexico who are so deeply soulful, passionate, open-hearted and generous. Thank you for receiving me the way you did.
