📍 Today is National Dare Day, a time to celebrate boldness and bravery—the exact qualities these incredible women have shown by building businesses that serve and uplift our community.
💡 Did you know over 10% of Scott County’s private businesses are woman-owned? In Stamping Ground, these visionary entrepreneurs aren’t just running businesses—they’re creating places that bring people together, inspire confidence, and meet important needs.

🔹 Kayla Jones
The force behind Buffalo Spirits Distilling Co. Airbnb, a charming lodging experience celebrating Kentucky’s rich distilling heritage. She also owns The Red Cottage, a multi-business complex that—just like its name—looks like a little red cottage, perfectly fitting the charm and character of our community. Her venue Woodlake Reserve is a historic church lovingly reintroduced and repurposed for the community to enjoy.
Kayla sponsors local causes and events without hesitation. Alongside her husband, Magistrate Rob Jones, she hosts the annual Christmas Decoration and Halloween Decoration Contests, inspiring community spirit, engagement, and friendly competition.
🔹 Whitney Monhollen & Emily Edelen
Founded Misfits on Mane in 2023 to provide accessible, affordable, and no-fuss haircuts on Main Street. Two single moms who built each other up—they chose to prove they could, they would—and they did! Their shop welcomes everyone with expert care in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. They regularly host community giveaways and judge local contests, including the SG Ruritan's Día de los Mu***os Halloween Costume Contest.
🔹 Savanna Mullins
Runs Moon Auction House, a family-oriented business she operates alongside her biggest supporter, her husband Chase. She leads compassionate estate auctions that ease difficult family transitions while preserving local history. Savanna has also hosted major charity auctions benefiting important local causes.
🔹 Jordyn Welch
Runs Prevailed Nails, a trendy and creative nail salon inspired by her mom Whitney’s entrepreneurial spirit. Known for personalized service and innovative designs, it’s quickly become a local hotspot for self-care and beauty.
🔹 Darlene Lavoie
Heads Rays Precision Calibration, providing critical calibration and repair services for measurement equipment used by area businesses and schools. Beyond business, Darlene actively sponsors local schools and events. Their ISO 17025 accreditation marks technical excellence and trustworthiness.
🔹 Hunter Moore
Owner of The Yuppie Puppy, employing elite female groomers who compete at state and even national levels. Hunter actively supports local events and youth extracurriculars and has served on the Ethics Board, showing leadership both in business and community.
🔹 Karla Brock
Stylist behind Karla’s Kuts, offering expert haircuts and styling just outside the Downtown Historic District, operating out of The Red Cottage. Clients appreciate her personal touch and years of experience.
🔹 Kristy Koger Co-owns N-Hance of Central and Northern Kentucky, the nation’s #1 cabinet refinishing company. Known for eco-friendly, durable finishes and quality service. She serves on the Code Enforcement Board. Together with her husband, Ken Koger, the City’s Public Works and Parks Commissioner, they generously support local youth programs and fight hunger through donations to the Stamping Ground Food Pantry.
🔹 Mrs. Patel of YOGI FOODMART Incorporated, keeps our city fueled—literally—providing fuel and serving fresh Hunt’s Brothers Pizza, a favorite quick meal that keeps the community energized and connected.
These women have dared to dream big, overcoming challenges like complex regulations, balancing family commitments, and pioneering in a small town. Their stories inspire us all to invest in local, support each other, and keep the spirit of Stamping Ground’s next generation alive and thriving.
