What is a great day? For us, it is when the UVA Health mobile mammography van is in the County of Greene Office Building parking lot in Stanardsville, providing screening mammograms for women in our county. A handful of Greene Care Clinic patients are getting screened today too, thanks to the Every Woman's Life program. Early detection saves lives... and your lives matter to us! 🩷

Our Eastern red columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) is in bloom in the clinic's pollinator garden! This native columbine has such a beautiful and unique flower - we're happy to see it kicking off our blooming season! If you've noticed that our garden is still a mess, please know that it is on purpose - we want it to warm up a bit more before we do our spring cleanup, since the stems and leaves from last year provide protection for the pollinators that overwinter in our garden. Happy Spring everyone!

Please, if you have 13 minutes, watch this 60 Minutes segment focused on Remote Area Medical - RAM clinics and the services they provide those without affordable access to medical, dental, and vision services. RAM clinics and free health care clinics (like the Greene Care Clinic) are lifelines for many in our country. From the 60 Minutes piece:

Scott Pelley: "Who are the people in the cars?" (waiting for the RAM clinic to open)
Brad Sands (former paramedic & RAM clinic coordinator): "Everybody. I mean, it's your neighbors, it's your parents, it's your friends, it's the community around you. It's everybody. And it's nationwide."

A nonprofit called RAM is bringing free health care to Americans who need it. Some patients wait days and sleep in their cars in order to get dental, vision, and medical treatment at RAM clinics.

Here's an easy thing you can do to help us: check out our 2026 eligibility guidelines and share this information with your friends and family! Not having access to health care is stressful. The Greene Care Clinic is a nonprofit organization that provides FREE health care, mental health counseling, prescription support, cancer screenings, and more for uninsured adults who meet our eligibility requirements:
✅ Resident of Greene County, VA
✅ An adult between 18-64 years of age
✅ Household income less than the numbers listed below. If you might be Medicaid eligible, we will provide health care while you apply for Medicaid.

Our Community Medical Supply Closet will be OPEN tomorrow (Saturday, April 4th) from 10 am - 11 am. As always, all are welcome and all of our durable medical supplies are available for free! We're located on Ford Ave, in Stanardsville, across from the Courthouse. We're here to help. 🐰

We've mentioned before how we love to have "freebies" available for patients in our waiting room, so we are always thrilled when Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Inc. in Charlottesville reaches out with a donation for our patients! Today we picked up shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, floss, probiotics, dish detergent, and more. Happy Thursday everyone! ❤

Happy National Doctor's Day! We are so grateful for the wonderful physicians who dedicate their time and expertise at the Greene Care Clinic. It's perfect that on National Doctor's Day we had a new physician start volunteering at our clinic, Dr. Robert O'Connor. Dr. O'Connor is currently Professor Emeritus of Emergency Medicine at UVA, where from 2007 until 2023 he served as Professor and Chair. He is also the past Medical Director of the UVA Pegasus Flight Program. Dr. O’Connor currently resides in Earlysville (right on the Greene County line). Welcome to the clinic Dr. O'Connor!
