Be Still Counseling PLLC

Be Still Counseling PLLC Sometimes we choose change and then other times it chooses us.

Life can feel like a never ending cycle of storm after storm and despite your best efforts, you cannot stop it. I understand the frustrations that come when you just want peace in your life, but there never seems to be any. I can understand the type of anxiety when you haven’t even opened your eyes in the morning and you already feel a heavy weight on your chest that feels like your breath is being ripped out of you. You scream, cry, and beg for it to all go away as you feel yourself slipping deeper into the pain you are experiencing. As a mother, wife, daughter, sister, you name it, I have been in life's darkest valleys like many of you reading these very words. Though you may feel alone and like there is no one there to talk to or to help you, I am here, I care and I want to hear your story. During therapy I help clients learn how to become their authentic self, gain control and make life more manageable. We work together by learning to control your emotions and letting go of the situations you cannot control to increase the function of daily life. We look at previous memories and moments that are holding you back from your future by exposing those instead of keeping them hidden, increasing more shame, guilt, and remorse. We will work together to increase your confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, courage, compassion and connectedness so you can, be more present, patient, persistent and joyful.

🌎💔 So Much Weight in the World Right Now

These past weeks have been filled with heartbreaking headlines — shootings, violence in our communities, and stories that leave us shaken. It can feel overwhelming to carry the weight of the world while also navigating our personal lives.

If you’re feeling:
Heavier than usual
Anxious about safety
Angry or confused about injustice
Or just plain tired from it all...
You are not alone.

Here are a few gentle reminders:

✨ It’s okay to limit news intake if it’s affecting your mental health.
✨ It’s okay to grieve, even for people you’ve never met.
✨ It’s okay to seek hope, light, and community when darkness feels loud.
✨ It’s okay to reach out for support — you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

As counselors, friends, and people of faith, we believe healing happens in safe spaces where burdens can be shared. If the current state of our world feels too heavy, please know support is here.

You are seen. You are not alone. And together, we can keep choosing hope in the midst of heartbreak.

🌿 Hi friends — I thought it was time to reintroduce myself and share a little about what we do here at Be Still Counseling. 🌿

I’m Ashton Taylor, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and the owner of Be Still Counseling in Stanfield, NC. I have a deep passion for helping people not just get through life, but truly thrive—mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally.

At Be Still Counseling, we specialize in working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and stress. Our approach is Christ-centered and trauma-informed, blending evidence-based tools like CBT, grounding, and mindfulness with the encouragement, peace, and hope that faith brings.

💡 A little about me personally:

I’m a bonus mom to a wonderful 13-year-old boy and a mom to a sassy, spunky 4-year-old girl.

We’re also excited to be welcoming another baby girl soon!

I’m both a pastor’s daughter and a pastor’s wife (yes, the double whammy 😊), which has given me unique insight into ministry life and its challenges.

I believe in creating a safe, authentic space where you can be open, heard, and supported—without judgment.

Outside of the office, I love spending time with my family, enjoying coffee dates (I get tea not coffee), and dreaming big about the future of Be Still Counseling as both a counseling center and a retreat space.

✨ Whether you’re starting therapy for the first time or coming back after a break, my heart is to meet you where you are, help you find your footing, and walk alongside you toward a healthier, more hopeful future.

📅 I currently have openings for both in-person sessions here in Stanfield and virtual sessions across North Carolina.
📲 Message me here or visit bestillcounseling.net to schedule your first session.

🤍 You don’t have to do this alone—let’s take the next step together.

🚨 We need to talk. 🚨
You wouldn’t ignore a broken leg.
You wouldn’t “just pray” a fever away.
So why are you trying to tough out anxiety, depression, or burnout?

🧠 Mental health is not optional. It’s not a luxury. It’s not selfish.
It’s your health. And it deserves the same care as your physical body.

You can work out five days a week, eat clean, drink water—and still feel like you’re falling apart on the inside. That’s not weakness. That’s a sign it’s time to care for your mind like you care for your body.

Therapy isn’t for “crazy people.” It’s for real people. Tired people. Strong people. Hurting people.
People just like you.

💬 If no one has told you lately: It’s okay to ask for help. It’s strong. It’s wise. It’s brave.

🌤️ Saturday Check-In: Let Today Be Gentle 🌤️

It’s the weekend—but for many of us, that doesn’t always mean rest.
Laundry still piles up. Kids still need you. The to-do list still nags at you.

But let me remind you:
Rest is not earned—it’s necessary.
You don’t have to finish everything before you take a break.
You don’t have to feel okay to deserve peace.

💭 What if today, you:
✅ Took 10 minutes to breathe, pray, or journal
✅ Let the dishes wait and took a walk instead
✅ Gave yourself permission to be still—mentally and physically

You don’t have to escape your life to recharge.
Sometimes you just need to pause inside of it.

Be gentle with yourself today. God’s grace is still enough—especially on the days you feel behind.

🧠 June is Men’s Mental Health Month
It’s time we stop telling men to “man up” and start giving them the space to speak up.

Too many men are silently battling anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, and pressure to be everything for everyone. But the truth is: struggling doesn’t make you weak—it means you’re human. And God didn’t design you to carry it all alone.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Your mental health matters.
Your story matters.
You are seen by a God who meets you right where you are—and walks with you through it.

At Be Still Counseling, we create space for men to show up honestly, without shame or judgment—just truth, growth, and grace.

💬 If you or a man you care about is feeling worn down or overwhelmed, let’s talk. Strength isn’t silence—real strength is reaching out.

🌞✨ Let’s Make Mental Health Fun for a Sec, Shall We? ✨🌞

Okay friends, mental health isn’t always about deep talks, journal prompts, or sobbing into your coffee (though we totally support those when needed). Sometimes… taking care of your mind looks like:

🎶 Creating a playlist called “Main Character Energy” and walking around Target like you're in a movie.
🧺 Folding laundry while pretending you're being filmed for a peaceful cottagecore YouTube channel.
🕺 Dancing in your kitchen like you're in a flash mob (bonus points if your pet is your dance partner).
🌮 Eating tacos on a random Tuesday because you survived Monday.
📞 Calling a friend just to say, “Hey, I remembered you exist and I love that for me.”
📚 Reading one chapter of a book and feeling like an intellectual queen/king.
🧃Drinking water out of a fancy cup with a straw because you’re classy like that.

Your mental health journey doesn’t have to be serious all the time. Joy counts as progress. Play counts as healing. Laughing until you snort counts as self-care.

So here’s your permission slip to be a little weird, wildly yourself, and wonderfully alive today. Take the pressure off. Breathe. Move your body. Eat the snack. Wear the cozy socks. Pet the dog. Text your therapist something funny. You’re doing better than you think.

Drop your favorite “silly but it works” mental health hack below! Let’s make this thread the coziest corner of the internet today. 💬👇

🌿 Mental Health & Chronic Pain: When the Future Feels Uncertain

Chronic pain doesn’t just affect the body—it weighs on the mind and spirit too. The uncertainty of how long it will last or if it will worsen can stir up deep fear, anxiety, and even isolation.

Living in daily pain can feel like walking through a fog—never quite sure what tomorrow will bring. This fear of the unknown can be overwhelming, and it's okay to acknowledge that. You're not weak for feeling afraid. You're human.

But here's the truth: God is not absent in our pain. He walks with us in it—not just when it ends. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, He is our constant.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” – Psalm 56:3

Fear doesn’t mean a lack of faith. It’s an opportunity to lean deeper into God's presence. He invites us to bring every anxious thought, every ache, every unanswered question to Him.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

You don’t have to know what’s next to be held steady. You don’t have to feel strong to be carried. Chronic pain may be a part of your story—but it is not the end of it.

💛 If you’re facing pain and fear today, know that you are seen, loved, and never alone.

This Memorial Day, let’s pause together.

Today we honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom—and we also acknowledge that grief, loss, and trauma don’t take a day off.

Whether you’re remembering a loved one, wrestling with heavy emotions, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the weight of the day, know this:

You don’t have to carry it alone.

At Be Still Counseling, we’re here to hold space for your story—whether it’s rooted in service, sacrifice, or simply the stress of daily life.

Take a deep breath. Feel what you need to feel. And know that healing is always welcome here.

Wishing you peace and comfort this Memorial Day.
