Please join us in welcoming Ellie Beam, MD/PhD, our newest T32 fellow!

Ellie’s innovative research blends psychoanalysis, biology, and AI to study how speech patterns reflect different depression biotypes —and predict who might benefit from treatments like MDMA-assisted therapy or TMS.
We’re honored to support her work at the Center for Precision Mental Health. Welcome, Ellie!

Check out our most recent work led by highlighting the precision of scalp-based Beam/F3 targeting used to deliver to veterans with treatment-resistant depression at four VA hospitals. Personalized models of TMS electric fields revealed that engagement of the sgACC on multiple metrics was associated with depression symptom reduction. 👉https://doi.org/10.1016/j.brs.2025.04.003

💡 Science has the power to change lives! 💡

Congratulations to Dr. Leanne Williams on receiving The Perry Award for her work in precision neuroscience.

Our mission is clear: to identify distinct subtypes of depression and anxiety and develop personalized, effective interventions.

Mental health is not one-size-fits-all. With research, innovation, and collaboration, we can revolutionize how we approach anxiety and depression treatment.

On behalf of Dr. Williams a thank you to Weill Cornell Medicine and her brilliant colleagues who inspire her every day. Let’s keep pushing boundaries! 🚀

“Imagine a world where, as a matter of course, your doctor asks you as much about your brain as your body. You talk about memory, mood and sleep. You go over family history of serious mental illness, neurodivergent disorders, depression and anxiety. And then your doc can order a detailed scan of your brain, called a functional MRI, to help map out its specific circuitry and look for signs of disruption.”

Welcome to the world -still under construction- of precision mental health. Learn more about the transformative work Stanford Professor, Dr. Leanne Williams, has been doing to develop a precision neuroscience approach for application in psychiatry.
