Healing requires more than a cure; it’s a lifelong journey. Dr. Heather Starmer was featured to speak about survivorship on the Back Table ENT podcast with Dr. Michael Moore and Dr. Gopi Shah.

To begin this episode, the discussion centers on the multifaceted challenges faced by survivors, including dysphagia, dry mouth, chronic pain, and mental health issues. The physicians discuss how to manage issues like mobility and lymphedema. They also emphasize the importance of early intervention, community support, and comprehensive care to enhance the quality of life for survivors.

The experts highlight several resources, including the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance, which are available to assist patients and providers in navigating survivorship. To conclude this episode, Dr. Starmer, Dr. Moore, and Dr. Shah also outline future directions in research and the need for more qualitative studies to better understand long-term survivorship outcomes.
