Autism Awareness Month is an opportunity to educate ourselves and our communitied about both the beauty and the barriers that may affect individuals living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Awareness of ASD is becoming increasingly more common in the mainstream which is amazing, but with that comes the responsibility to stay informed and mindful of misconceptions 👩‍🏫 Every human being living with ASD is unique and nobody is defined by their diagnoses.

At Capitol Care, we support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living their best lives. Every day we see the unique gifts as well as challenges that our individuals with ASD face. We strive to build bridges and integrate with our community in ways that are meaningful and beneficial for them. This month especially we are celebrating the diversity of neurodiversity, and continuing to share our mission of access, inclusion, compassion, and understanding ♾️💙✨

Huge thank you to the phenomenal world champion beatboxer Chris Celiz for bringing your talents to Day Program today!! 🎤🔥 We learned the basics of beatboxing and our individuals bravely got on the mic and absolutely crushed it 👏 Even staff joined in with a little encouragement 🙌 It was such a fun, engaging, joy-filled, and inspiring morning of music and community 🎶✨ Stay tuned for the videos!
