What a great night for sampling some of the best chili at the Gaston County Senior Center for the 2025 Nursing Facility Chili Cook-Off. STLC’s very own Trish, Keysha, and Crystal put a lot of hard work into their “Chopper Chili” and these biker babes brought home 3rd place!! 🏆🌶️😀

Tis the season to do more for others! Our community service project this month is collecting non-perishable food items and paper products for those in need in OUR area. We are collecting until November 21st. Drop off items if you’d like to help out. Some of our resident volunteers and staff assisted with the first drop-off to The King’s Daughters Ministry here in town. KDM is a residential,educational, and counseling ministry for hurting women and their children. We enjoyed stopping by for a pumpkin spice latte, snack and fellowship. You may recognize this face. Donna Stuart, a retired Activity Professional from STLC, is making the most of her retirement by trying out an idea she calls Activities à la cart. Today she brought in an upcycled 3-D train model that was donated to us a few years ago from a family member. She reworked it and chugged around the building visiting and reminscing with our folks. Her program included short clips of steam engine trains from her phone, the ability to “flip the switch” to make the train go around and even a train whistle could be heard down the hallway. It was a fantastic way to provide sensory stimulation and positive interaction among our residents. She has other programs available if you are interested. Contact Jen in Activities.

Our journey today took us up towards the Blue Ridge mountains in search of Fall, good food, and an organization with purpose. Our folks learned all about Samaritan’s Purse, their mission and different ways they are the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.

Purple Party 2025 was a huge success as we celebrated together to show our support for our residents fighting Alzheimer’s disease and our staff/families who care for them day in and day out as well as in memory of the residents we have lost to this horrible disease. Join our STLC team tomorrow at 10am at the Gastonia Centennial Pavilion as we walk to raise funds and awareness to end Alzheimer’s because
