Sisters who come to therapy together thrive together! Raylenn and Kelsey have been working hard on their speech sounds. Today they worked with Mrs. Lou on “carryover” of their speech sounds! “Carryover” means when a skill that a child has been working on in therapy is also being used in other contexts, not just during teaching. To work on carryover, Mrs. Lou had the girls play a game of Pretty Pretty Princess. The girls had to remember to use their speech sounds during their game when Mrs. Lou was no longer reminding them. They knocked out their speech sounds and had a fantastic time too! It was some fun fit for a king (or a princess)! 👑 👸💅

Prepositions: They’re those words that tell about positions like “on top,” “under,” “behind,” etc. Prepositions are tricky stuff because they are so subjective! In Speech Therapy, Paisley is learning about prepositions! She and Mrs. Lou are using the dollhouse to understand prepositions in real time like when they say “put the kitchen IN the house,” “put the fridge NEXT TO the kitchen,” “put the TV ON the table,” and more! Now Paisley can follow those very important real life directions that involve prepositions, like “put ON your shoes,” “get IN the car,” and “let’s go TO therapy” so that we can have a great time! Everyone meet our friend Alysa! She has been working hard in occupational therapy on her ADL skills. ADL’s are activities of daily living such as brushing her hair, brushing her teeth, and dressing. Alysa has been working hard with Mrs. Sarah and Erin on brushing her teeth and hair in the bathroom so she can use the mirror and best stimulate the activity like she would do at home. While it may not been fun all of the time, she does get a good giggle in during the activity sometimes! Way to go Alysa! 🛁🚰🪥

Dakota has been working hard in physical therapy with Mrs. Amy on his coordination, balance and strength. Dakota has been progressing well with his coordination, and is now working on more sports like activities such as jumping, running, and hopping on one leg! Way to go Dakota! 🎉

Everyone meet our friend Elias! Elias came to us after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. This is where the immune system attacks the nerves, causing muscle weakness, difficulty walking, difficulty with fine motor skills such as eating, dressing and much more. Elias received Occupational and Physical Therapy here at BPT Kidz and after months of therapy he is back to his prior level of function! We are so proud of him and proud to share his story! Way to go Elias! 🎉
