๐ Resident Spotlight: Carolyn ๐
Weโre honored to shine this quarterโs spotlight on a truly remarkable member of our Accura Healthcare of Stanton family โ Carolyn!
A proud Stanton native and daughter of Bert and Emma Palmquist, Carolyn dedicated her career to shaping young minds as an elementary teacher in Atlantic, Iowa. She later shared her passion for education as a substitute teacher across nearby communities including Cumberland/Massena, Bridgewater, and Griswold. Her commitment to learning left a lasting legacy with countless students.
Today, youโll often catch Carolyn showing off her skills in her favorite game โ Co****le! Before joining us, she also enjoyed the creative arts of embroidery and quilt making, hobbies that highlight her eye for detail and love of craftsmanship.
When it comes to cherished memories, Carolyn lights up when talking about her first trip to Colorado. โThe first time we went, it was so exciting to see the mountains โ especially as a farm kid from Iowa!โ
Colorado remained a special place in her heart โ so much so that she and her beloved husband, Darrel, spent their honeymoon there. Married in 1961, they built a beautiful life together, raising three daughters and eventually welcoming five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Though Darrel passed away in 2015, Carolyn continues to share their story through her smiles, songs, and sweet memories.
Speaking of music โ Carolynโs love for all genres shines, and sheโs especially gifted at singing and playing piano. ๐ถ
And her message to younger generations?
โจ โLook up and ahead and not down on yourself and I believe you'll have a successful meaningful life!โ โจ
Carolyn also shared a joyful milestone sheโs looking forward to:
โThe good Lord willing, Iโll celebrate my 90th birthday one week before Christmas this year!โ ๐
Weโre so grateful to have Carolyn as part of our Accura family. Her warmth, wisdom, and joyful spirit make our community shine a little brighter. ๐
