Psalms 23:4
In this very familiar Psalm we get to this verse where David expresses his confidence in The Lord being with him in the darkest valley. David expresses three very important things we must remember and have at the front of our thoughts when
We are faced with trials, tribulations and troubles.
First David admits that it is a dark valley. This is a difficult situation that we need The Lord for. Too often many forget this and begin to worry, allow anxiety and fear to come in and then find themselves worse off than they needed to be and farther away from The Lord instead of drawing near to Him.
Second we must recognize the source of such darkness. David expresses that he would “fear no evil”. David recognized that God was not the orchestrator of the event but Satan was.
Recognizing this gives us the ability to approach God for help. Many believe their situations are caused by God. Such a belief can cause a person to be holding their own self from going to God. Yes God is allowing this to happen.
He allowing it for our good not our destruction. He’s allowing it for us to draw near not run away. When we recognize the source as Satan the avenue to God is open without distractions, or doubt, or fear.
Third recognize that The Lord is the one who can rescue, who can defend, who can hold you steady in the storm. The Lords rod protects from the enemy, just as David knew he used as a shepherd protecting His sheep; The Lord will do the same for those who call on Him. The staff was used for steadiness of a shepherds walk along their journey. We must be mindful as David was that only Jesus can keep us steady during our journey. Only Jesus knows the direction we should go because He knows both our beginning and His desired end. He and He alone can lead us that way. Through hills and valleys, with a new testimony of His grace, mercy, love, power, and authority.
We must make sure all three are in place if we are to receive what God wants for us in every trial, tribulation, and trouble in life. His desire is for us to come out stronger in our faith, more praise and worship upon our lips and heart, and more prepared for the next battle ahead.
