One of my favorite aspects of running a small business is collaborating with fellow entrepreneurs in Happy Valley. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the second annual W.E. Another art journal example! I let myself wander through the page with shades of orange, black, and gold — and a sprinkle of something extra: glow-in-the-dark stencil butter! ✨🕯️

We hear a lot about “triggers,” those things that activate us and give us anxiety or fear. But we don’t hear a lot about “glimmers.” Glimmers are those small moments in our day that bring us joy, whether it be seeing a beautiful fall leaf, getting a kiss on the nose from a puppy, or hearing a baby’s infectious laugh. Looking for and finding glimmers can help us get through tough days and challenging times.

On Sunday, November 2, I’ll be leading an art journaling class dedicated to glimmers! We’ll focus on those small moments and then create an art journaling spread. Included in the class is a free starter art journal, perfect for mixed media. And we will also learn a technique for art journaling - stencil butter!

I used stencil butter on the mandala above to create a three dimensional texture, then painted over it with watercolor to give it a scratchy appearance.

An example of some stencil butter accents on a simple journal page. I used some turquoise stencil butter to add the small heart accent and the banner accents. Sometimes a small simple embellishment can go a long way! I have so many colors of stencil butter. Come and make art with me on Sunday at the !
