CACJ is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building unity, resolving conflict, and restoring justice through our community-based programming, which includes: Pretrial Supervision, Mediation, Youth Aid Panel, and Community Conferencing. Youth Aid Panel allows youthful offenders to make amends to victims and the community. Our Pre-trial Release Program works with defendants to keep families and jobs intact. The Mediation Program helps parties resolve their own differences outside of court. Our most recently added program, Community Conferencing, works to assist in neighborhood, workplace, and community disputes by bringing involved parties together to achieve restorative outcomes for all involved. A highlight of this program is providing reentry support to those transitioning back into often challenging family and/or community dynamics. CACJ began in 1976 as a grass roots effort by community citizens to address the problems faced by offenders re-entering the community. It was incorporated in 1978. The agency began with collaborating with local judges, district justices, police, prison staff, attorneys and human services to design and implement Alternative Justice programs in Centre County.
