This Penn State freshman and State High alum is climbing the ranks!

Isaac Oppermann earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after his first collegiate meet, where he ran a 17:51.5.

The Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, native finished third overall at the Dolan Duals, beating out several Nittany Lion upperclassmen and finishing nearly a minute ahead of Lock Haven's top runner.

Oppermann came to the blue and white as a 3200-meter track specialist at State College Area High School, achieving a personal-best 9:14.65.
